When are the new, 2015 SSA Pilot Rankings officially published (typically)? by [email protected]
Thanks so much John!!! It really helps us with the 3 Nationals at Nephi next year. We already have 66 registrations (65 maximum gliders allowed per rules) so these rankings will be very useful! Bruno - B4

GOOD READING FOR THE YEW HEAR by Dan Marotta
Here we go with "compulsory" again. When will the safety nazis get out of soaring and let those of us be who enjoy the sport without the constant whining of the pussies who don't feel "safe" without some electronic gizmo to lead them down the shining path. I saw on the news last night about...

US Standard Class Nationals--Day2 by Retting
Here we go race fans.....Day 2 Hoo boy....we had to earn our pay today. Another TAT in the shape of a square, running south a bunch into a 5 mile ring called West, right turn West a bunch more into a 15 mile ring,...you get the idea. After dumping our water on the grid and doing the elephant walk,...

Gliders and Pilots comparison at Ostrow & Hosin by Jax
www.igcspy.com Scroll down the "Compare Flight" tab for gliders comparison. Click on table headings to sort. Make your own conclusions... It will only work properly with chrome, not sure how it will works with Opera or Safari.

Pre Pan-American and 2018 Canadian National Gliding Competition by Roy B.
I've done four Canadian Nationals now and paid the Transport Canada fee each time. It's not really very difficult (they take credit cards over the phone) and it's easier than complying with the requirements of some other countries (France made me get a full medical exam for example). This is all...

Oudie IGC recertify before sale?? by [email protected]
I have an Oudie IGC that I got a couple years ago. I'm sort of selling off some of my aviation stuff (because I got a supercub and I'm going nuts with that) My question is this. I know it had some sort of calibration that was included, and this is a requirement if you use the Oudie for badge and...

Pins for L33 Solo by [email protected]
Hi, Misplaced wing pins and tail pin for L33 Solo (got distracted). Waiting 10 month for delivery from Europe. Just wandering if there is any available on the open market. Willing to pay. If you have some pin or know of a glider that is not flyable, I would be interested. Thanks, Jerry

Advanced Soaring Made Easy Edition 4 by [email protected]
I'm the Canadian dealer for this very good gliding book, and I did the design and layout for the author, Bernard Eckey. It has 432 pages, 187 illustrations and 176 photographs, and has been updated and extended with new topics (for example, have you ever heard of climbing in an atmospheric...

SeeYou 3-D View with Mac by [email protected]
I love my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.5) and SeeYou (6.17) running in Windows emulator VM Fusion (6.0.5), but I've never been able to get natural looking terrain in 3-D mode, either running the animation or stopped. I have both vector and raster maps installed for the areas of my flight traces - the 2-D...

Compaq aero 1550 cable to 302 by [email protected]
Anyone have a cable to connect a 1500 series Compaq aero to a Cambridge 302 that they would be willing to sell? 2EZ wore his connector out and is having a hard time finding a replacement. Apparently, no vendors have this cable anymore. Thanks, WB

More grist for the battle of the battery by Steve Leonard
Larry Goddard wrote: 'Probably OK. However, if you are really concerned, one option is to put a Schottky diode (of sufficient current capacity) in line. It will introduce approximately 0.5v of voltage drop over the whole range of supplied voltage.' Darn good idea, Larry. Even if you aren't...

Cloud Flying/ R. Barry by Shawn Knickerbocker
It is a personal preference ….just like flying ridge, wave, etc…and personal selection that some may want…if it is not your choice, by all means do not do it…. It does result in a tremendous amount of altitude in a short period…take practice and qualifications, just like other aviation...

What am I looking for? by Mike McCarron
I had an ASW-24 for some 10 years but the landing flaps on the ASW-27B take my breath away. Truly powerful and make my all too frequent outlandings less exciting. For that I am grateful. But I would defer to UH since he has owned both with more time than I.

SSA on the Road...Literally by Chip Bearden[_2_]
Like many in the competition community, I'd occasionally been critical of the SSA staff in the past not so much for not understanding what we competition pilots do (sometimes it doesn't even make sense to me) but for their apparent lack of interest even when we had contests across the road from SSA...

updated SUA files by Brad[_2_]
The new Seattle Sectional came out today and I as I understand it (not seen one yet) the Class B area around Sea-Tac is now different. Does anyone know who or how the .sua files are created, and when/if we may see updates. I am guessing that there may be other changes across the country as...
