Max flaps IAS for ASG-32Mi by jp
I have read, and re-read, the POH for the ASG-32Mi and am uncertain of the recommended and max IAS for the various flap settings. On p. 118 there is a diagram of what I suppose are the recommended, effective flap IAS ranges. On the ASI are marked the max IAS for flapa 5,6 and for flaps L. These...

Guide hoodies by ProfJ
I've been following the survival kit discussions with interest. One part of my flying kit nowadays is to always have a flyfishing guide hoodie as my top layer (unless it's cold enough for a down jacket or similar). These hoodies are lightweight synthetics (designed for sun protection in the...

Flight manual format by JS[_5_]
Just noticed that European flight manuals share the same format. No, they aren't called a POH. For example, DG1000S, Duo Discus and ASH26E manuals all have airspeed indicator markings in section 2.3. Handy. Jim

LS6b ballast valve seal by Ben Coleman
Hi all, I am rebuilding my ballast valve at the moment. I have it apart (unfortunately in more bits than I planned but that is another story) and would like to replace the rubber seal / seat that the ball-on-a-stick sits on. Does anyone know what seal it is and/or where to get one? I assume...

PW-5 1000 hour inspection? by Andy Frechtling
Has anyone done one of these and found anything to be particularly difficult? Any areas to pay special attention to? Any help would be appreciated. "We can all learn from experience. But we may run out of gliders before we have all learned."

"Elephant Walk" by [email protected]
Charlie Spratt would mention "elephant walks" in his race reports and I have had the fun of participating in such an event during the "Ordeal at Cordele". But now, the Sept 2020 issue of "Air & Space" provides some background on the term. Quoting the article: "Elephant walk" is a term that traces...

Blanik - LiPo/LiFe Refit by [email protected]
Was chatting with an FAA engineer about an unrelated matter and the subject of JAR specs for sailplanes came up. I mentioned almost in passing that it sure seemed like if any new ground was plowed on batteries it would be OSTIV and EASA that paved it. He replied that if a manufacturer actually...
