Landing lights, incandescent, halogen and Xenon HID by
The Visitor
I have finally got my wing tips painted and on my Seneca, they have the
hid lights in them. I had the Piper wingtip recognition lights before,
35 watters, not good enough to show a light in daylight.
My attention is now turning towards my actual landing lights. These are
located on the nosegear...

Lightspeed does it again by
Duane MacInnis
I followed the posts about Lightspeed selling pretty good equipment, and
most importantly, standing behind their products when they have problems. I
was particularly impressed with Jay Honeck's reports (hi Jay) about his
Oshkosh experience. So, as a treat to myself I recently bought a 30/3G...

TKM Anyone? by
Jon Kraus
As stated earlier we are looking to replace our KX-170B (our 2nd
NAV/COM). As I was doing some research I stumbled across the TKM MX-170
http://www.avionix.com/rev-tkm.html
On the surface this looks like a pretty good deal (1.5 AMU's new). I
talked to a gentleman at Pacific Coast Avionics and he...

ROP masking of engine problems by
Roger Long
Word was just getting around about a year ago that it is possible to run
some carbureted engines lean of peak. It was discovered that using carb heat
would improve the mixture distribution.
I had a lot of time early in the year to look into this because our O320
H2AD was apart due to premature...

Deducting Aircraft Expenses - Standard Mileage Deduction? by
Jerry
Hello,
I have an apartment complex in a town about 150 miles away. It
is an ideal mission for my Beech Sundowner. I'm about to take a car
out there to keep at the airport. Then I will begin flying ( 1.5 hours
) instead of driving ( 2.75 hours ).
Since I have no vehicle dedicated to my business,...

Tail Wheel Training by
Jim CRQ
Could someone give a brief outline of what is involved in getting a
tail wheel endorsement.
I'm interested in upgrading my skills and would like to know what type
of training is involved. I suspect its mostly landing and taxing.
Also how long did it take to master the tail wheel...

Fractional Ownership - Cirrus SR22 by
Rich Raine
I would love to hear from anyone involved with one of the fractional
ownership programs for the Cirrus 22. I'm interested in access on the
weekdays with 8 owners scheduling simultaneously. Or for that matter
thoughts on how well this concept works.

Sensenich Wood Prop Question by
[email protected]
Can someone tell me what the difference is between a "CK" and a "C"
designation on a Sensenich prop? I am looking at a used prop for my
Aeronca Champ which currently has a W72CK-44 cruise prop. The used
propeller that's for sale is a W72C-42. I have a C-65-8 taper shaft--
will the C work on my...

Lycoming 0-360 factory overhaul core charges - Does Air Powertell the truth ? by
Mike Spera
O.K. I read all the replies. I offer another viewpoint. As a contract
negotiator for the last 17 years dealing with all types of vendors, I
have a few observations.
First rule: GET IT IN WRITING BEFORE YOU START THE WORK!!!!!!!!
Second rule: If they won't put the deal in writing, or you don't...

Aircraft Financing by
[email protected]
I'm debating the purchase of a plane and I was wondering what the
current rates are that anyone has gotten for financing on an aircraft
for a loan amount of $50-60K for either a 5, 7, or 10 year term. I know
that AOPA can quote this, and I'll be calling them tomorrow during
business hours. However...

time for avionics upgrade... by
kontiki
I'm thinking seriously now about upgrading the avionics in my Comanche.
An HSI would be a nice thing to have too (once you've flown something with
one you become a believer) so I'm thinking of combining the effort and
putting one of them in too. Maybe a GNS 430 and keeping the 155 as my
second...

Mandatory SB565 Lycoming fuel pump by
Paul kgyy
I received a notice in the mail. It says,
"If your Lycoming engine has a diaphragm-type fuel pump with Lycoming
P/N LW-15473 installed, and has a date code of 3201, the pump must be
replaced PRIOR TO NEXT FLIGHT."
The defective pumps were shipped from Lycoming between 10/1/01 and
2/2/04.
It...

Upholstery Repairs by

If I own a single engine airplane that needs some interior upholstery and
trim repairs, can I contract with an automotive upholstery repair shop to do
the work, or do I need to use an FAA Repair Station?
Thanks,

2 seaters by
Marco Rispoli
In my quest to purchase an aircraft I came to the conclusion that a 2 seater
could fit my mission parameters AND my budget.
I can afford:
Beech Skipper (goes between 25-35 grands age around 20+)
Mooney M10 (same as the skipper ... but it's older age around 30+)
Piper Tomahawk (same as the...
