Bad publicity by
David Starer
I just searched on "glider" on the BBC's news web site. What I found shocked
me. Of 46 results returned for the period since May 1998, not a single one
mentioned any form of achievement whatsoever in gliding. See here for the
search...

Favourite quotes about flying by
David Starer
Here are two of my favourite quotes about flying; what are yours?
1. Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Douglas Adams
2. Try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges of it. The
edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground,...

Self-launching human: the video by
David Starer
Slightly off-topic I admit, but strikes a chord with me as a glider pilot:

Club Class Suggestions by
David Smith
Of all the gliders suggested choose the one with the
best competition record in recent years, so look back
through Club Class results, you will not find the Astir,
ASW 15 or Jantar.
Most important of all is airframe condition in particular
wing profile, if that is poor you can forget high...

AoA by
David Smith
I have been watching this thread for several days,
we are not going to get practical AoA displays for
gliders in the near future so how is the best way to
get it right as often as possible?
We have the ASI, Attitude and Feel and I guess that
we all use some combination of all 3 to fly...

weight by
David Smith
I am lucky having a dry barn to keep the trailer in
winter, even so I use a heater for 3 or 4 weeks around
this time of year.
Is it true that many new trailers are double skinned
and sealed to keep the inside dry ?.
This is the opposite of conventional ventilated trailer
thinking, does it...

A boatbuilding friend set me on the right lines when
he came to repair a glass fibre dinghy. Apparently
the resin reinforced glass is porous and only the gellcoat
is impervious, so if the gellcoat is cracked or damaged
it will absorb moisture. He recommended thorough drying
before refinishing. When...

Experience with Sun Tiger sunglasses by
David Sieber
Amongst the Soaring Communitity does anyone have experience with Sun
Tiger sunglasses. I saw the ad in Soaring and wanted to cut through
the ad-hype. I would appreciate comments concerning the quality of
them filling prescriptions.
Thanks in Advance.

Dittel radio servicing by
David Sherrill
Any recommendations for getting a Dittel FSG 71M serviced? Mine has a sticker on the side that reads "Replace Memory Battery 2005". The radio is working perfectly, but I want to get that battery out before it starts leaking.
I have found owners manuals and schematics on the web, but nothing...

NASA Pik-20E Log Books / $500 Reward by
David Shelton[_2_]
I'm restoring a Pik-20E that was formerly owned by NASA. Unfortunately, NASA can't seem to locate the log books. My sources at Dryden believe that one of the pilots or mechanics may have taken the log books home at some point.. It's probably a long shot, but I'm offering a $500 reward for the log...
