What type is this tandem plane? by Oliver Arend
http://ruben.members.selfnet.de/forum/download/file.php?id=90 Seen in the Technik-Museum in Speyer, Germany. Searching for the registration D-EAAQ turns up Cessna 172 and Klemm L35, so that can't be it. There's the logo of the Air Power 09 Steiermark on both sides; their site doesn't show anything...

What type of connector do Northstar M1 M3 use? by [email protected]
I want to build a cable to run my M1 & M3 at home in demo mode. Both navigators use the same connector & pinout for their power (connector P15 on M3, not sure about M1). The connector looks like a Centronics 24-pin, but the edges are more rounded. I showed my local electronic store my M3 but...

What was that welding exercise/exam? by mhorowit
Somewhere I read about a welding exercise where the student built a tube frame of some sort, pressurized it, checked for leaks, then smashed it flat and rechecked for leaks. I've looked thru my books but can't find it. Anyone recall where I can find a description of the exercise? - Mike

what went wrong by Dick[_1_]
Having spent 4-1/2 hours removing and 1 hour replacing a leaking split seal on the front of my flanged crankshaft C-85 , my first flight today still shows leakage.... Never really doing those old Chevy two part split seals well, I guess I'm still inept G. I think I'll be able to better the...

What would the log entry be? by mhorowit
I'm taking apart a Tcraft with the understanding there will be some rust apparent. My plan is to have the fuselage cleaned, repaired and primed by my regular IA, with me doing the same to smaller parts i.e. rudder, stabilizers, ailerons. My regular IA is an hour away; the local EAA chapter has IAs...

What would you call this tool? Bolt drill guide? by Michael Horowitz
Some years ago, I watched an A&P drill a shank so it would accept a cotter pin. Was a metal block into which various sized bolt could be screwn into, each with a hole perpendicular to the shaft that would guide a drill bit. Anyone know what this might be called? - Mike

what's a BUREP ? by jan olieslagers[_2_]
http://www.hexatronengineering.com/60hp_champ.htm uses the Burep as a measure of engine power. What the heck is a Burep? PS I recently saw this Hexadyne P60 engine at the Salon de l'ULM in Blois, France. Looks neat, but is not cheap. Are any flying yet?

what's a good country for a homebuilt aircraft? by Lukas
Hello group, this may be a bit of an odd question. I currently live in the Netherlands and I'm looking to relocate. I've long wanted to learn to fly and build a light (experimental and/or ultralight) airplane and I'm wondering which countries would be well suited for that, economically and with...

What's going on at Sun 'n fun? by Tedstriker
If anyone is back or has the laptop with them, how about some news. I decided not to go this year, and do Oshkosh instead. Can't afford both. I can't find any online news reporting daily activiities. The Southern Aviator Sun 'n Fun edition isn't posted online, so all the editors must be at the...

What's in a tailwheel???? by DonMorrisey
All my flying is in nosewheel airplanes so I know nothing about the workings of tailwheels and this is not a question about differences between nosewheel and tailwheel. The airplane I am building is a tailwheel airplane (Bushcaddy R-120) and I have no trepidation about mastering a tailwheel plane....

What's the best auto gas for a/c use in California? by [email protected]
O.K. guys .. Anybody have any knowledge of which widely available mogas in California has the least amount of alcohol, MBTE (or whatever?) in it? Going to be using it in a 2 cycle engine in my motor glider, and really don't want anything except just plain old gasoline! Thanks for any input,

What's the best venue to sell used aircraft parts? by Rob Bulaga
I have some slightly used aircraft parts; i.e. Airmaster hub, rotary engines, etc. I'm sure there's an opinion or two out there on where's the best place to list these items for homebuilders to find them. Ebay is obvious, but doesn't really cater to this audience. Other suggestions?

what's the recipe for dense white smoke? by Stealth Pilot
I have a friend who has a fournier motorglider with the most unusual tips. it has quite solid cast aluminium holders top and bottom for pyrotechnics canisters which would give off really dense white smoke. they were like a military smoke grenade in that once ignited they burnt until extinguished....

What's up with the KLS site? by Yoram Leshinski
I tried to log on the KLS site for a while now without success. What's up with that? Are they out of business? Yoram Leshinski If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

What's with this flurry of spam?!? by Rob Turk
I'm seeing massive amounts of spam on this group, is this just on my newsserver or all around? It doesn't show up on any other newsgroups on this server. My guess is that a subscriber to rah has it's system infected with a spambot virus... Could everyone check/update their vurusscanner...

What's wrong with this engine? by Fred the Red Shirt
I was perusing some lists of Ultralight engines and noted that the Limbach 275 was listed as 20 - 25 hp and 17 lb. I figured that was a typo, since it was less than half of the weight of other engines of comporable power--more likely it was 17 hp at 20 - 25 lb, still good stats. But I've seen it...

What's Your Favorite Hand Rivet Squeezer? by Larry Smith
I used US Industrial Tool and Supply's hand squeezer to repair trailing edges and add pma'd bulb on two '56 Cessna flaps. They turned out nicely and two A&P's liked them, but the squeezer was hard to use with 1/8" diameter 2117 rivets. Avery and Tatco sell nice hand squeezers. Avery is better...

What/how does compression ratio affect an engine? by [email protected]
Hi, So I was fantasizing the other day (as I do quite a bit) about my latest dream-plane-to-build: an RV-9A. (Note that this is fantasy in the extreme as I'm not a pilot yet AND I have no money!) I was thinking of how to power this plane. A Jet-A burning diesel would be great but that's another...

what? by WildJim
What caused the accident at OSH? I heard the front plane, which had a slower stall, touched down first instead of second.
