Oudie task declaration to PowerFLARM by Tony[_5_]
I have noticed this year that my Oudie will upload the task to my Portable PowerFLARM but it will not update the pilot name, glider type, contest I'd Etc. The dialog box on the Oudie during task upload indicates it is sending the glider info but the flarm config file does not get rewritten and the...

Gapa Geezer has been outed! by Tony[_5_]
Uh oh! The Gapa Geezer hasn't done a very good job of controlling his alter-ego. Gotta be careful what you say to the guy who runs the club website. Nice work on the GAPA trailer though, I'm glad that you think you'll fly far enough to need it! :D http://www.soaravenal.com/Intro.html

glider transport from europe to Uvalde by Tony[_5_]
hey maybe everyone should pool their money and rent this sucker. Or maybe they've got an empty leg coming up US bound. Think the runway at Uvalde can handle it? http://www.ksn.com/news/local/story/Yingling-Aviation-Antonov-225/YdFjXPkKnUWutwMFRbkFOA.cspx

Minimoa first flight by Tony[_5_]
I was surfing around today and found this cool website about Minimoa's. Turns out this group has built a new one from scratch and had their first flight in it yesterday. Wow! http://minimoa.jimdo.com/maiden-flight/

Anyone heading west from the Seniors? TN to KS transport needed by Tony[_5_]
Our Rowing Club here in Wichita has purchased a single place rowing shell in Murfreesboro, TN and are trying to figure out a way to get it here. Like Sailplanes, rowing shells are oddly shaped and a little difficult to transport around the country. A cartop rack is included so if your vehicle has...

Flightline 760 Radio by Tony[_5_]
Is anyone out there using these radios? Thanks to limited archive searchability all I was able to find was a post a while back from Tim Mara saying that he had sold about 50 of them. I'm curious what the real world power drain is on them from a 12V sealed lead acid battery. Spec is a bit high at...

SeeYou 4 registration by Tony[_5_]
In April, it was mentioned on this group that: "To use version 4.x, you need to buy an upgrade - unless you purchased SeeYou for PC or an upgrade in the last year. " I purchased version 3 last winter so i downloaded version 4. I thought I put in my name and registration key but today when opening...

Another Downwind Dash by Tony[_5_]
I had quit reading the Barry Schiff thread until I was alerted to this: "After ~40 years of participation in 'flying for fun' (mostly soaring), I recently participated in my Very First vulgar downwind dash...as Joe Crew. Proving that ships of 1-26 performance are incapable of XC, Joe...

I made it back by Tony[_5_]
Somewhat revolutionary (for me), I actually returned to my point of takeoff yesterday after a good cross country flight. I took the new- ish to me NG-1 (a modified BG-12/16) out for a 300 km FAI triangle. Had a good time, finished the task, and didn't need a retrieve. I can see why you guys like...

making a wing wheel by Tony[_5_]
I'm going to start making a wing wheel for the Cherokee here shortly. I have some 9 oz glass cloth and some fiberglass resin from advance auto parts. I'm curious how many layers of glass those of you who have done it used?

Oudie not making valid IGC files by Tony[_5_]
My last few flights have been with Oudie only and when uploading to the OLC the IGC validation has failed. I also had a format issue with my last flight and had to send it to the OLC help email. The response I got said "I fixed the file, but it has no signature at the end, so it will be invalid...

National Records & Citizenship by Tony[_5_]
I couldn't find much on a search but am really curious as to why apparently National records are based on citizenship and not on the location of the actual flight? This leads to very misleading listings of National Records. For example the World Altitude Record of Fossett and Enevoldsen of 50,721...

FAI Ultralight Definition by Tony[_5_]
Curious, Sporting Code 3 defines the Ultralight Class as a take off weight of less than 220 kg, or 485 lbs. Is this maximum allowed takeoff weigth or the actual weight of the glider for that flight?
