Today's Glider Safety Webinar by
Tom[_12_]
During today's first webinar, we covered glider accident statistics
and preventing launching accidents (40% of glider fatalities) in a
session that lasted nearly two hours. A few pilots had difficulty
logging on to the session. Comments so far are very favorable. The
cost is far less than for gas...

Today's Name That Glider contest by
Tuno
See: http://www.asa-soaring.org/images/front/pic5.jpg
Found on display on a rest stop kiosk on Interstate 10 in southern
Arizona. It's a photograph of a grainy photograph and hard to tell
what the glider is. Any ideas?

Tom Knauff quoted in 'FLYING' by
Ray Lovinggood
The February 2005 issue of 'FLYING' magazine quotes
Tom Knauff's approach to instructing with his 'That
Looks About Right' method. I haven't read Tom's book,
yet, but the magazine article appears quite thorough
in its overview of Tom's method.

Tom Knauff's newsletter by
[email protected]
Has anyone read this? What is your opinion? Tom Knauff certainly
doesn't provide any facts to support his conclusions. The following
statement in particular should anger each glider pilot, CFIG and
examiner: "The point of this is the demonstrable fact that most glider
pilots do not have the...

I was in Tonopah recently and the motel clerk mentioned that all hotels
and motels were booked solid for July 7-11 due to a motorcycle rally
hitting town. Sounded like useful info for this group.

Tony Condon Downwind Dash by
Steve Leonard[_2_]
Tony Condon is on a downwind dash from Wellington, KS. Last I heard, goal was somewhere in Texas. Cloud base should be pushing 7000 AGL, and tailwinds in excess of 30 knots. B/S ratio forecast is pretty low, but I have flown on similar sorts of days and found the lift to be very good. Will see...
