AOPA tries to band house thermals! by Bastoune
I got a chuckle out of this one... In the AOPA Pilot October issue, I learned that the AOPA is working hard to stop the development of a 200-megawatts natural-gas-fired power plant located near Bryon Municipal, CA. The concern at hand is the introduction of "Thermal Plumes" nearby the airport. I...

AOPA urges allowing cell phone use in general aviation by Eric Greenwell
One of the reasons I'm an AOPA member, even though I don't fly airplanes, is they sometimes do good things. This is from their site (www.aopa.org), on the Home page: General aviation pilots should be able to use cell phones in the cockpit while they're airborne. And they should be able to do...

AOPA/SSA partnership? by Echo
So originally it seemed as if SSA and AOPA were giving each other's members dual citizenship, since I stated getting AOPA magazine a while back. I got a bill today for renewal...guess it was a temporary thing to drum up interest for each others' causes? E

AOPA? by GARY BOGGS
I joined AOPA hoping to get some help with the problems we're having here with our airport management, but they were absolutely no help at all, so I'm letting my membership expire. I cannot believe the tactics they use to keep me onboard! If they had only spent half of that energy helping me, I...

APIS motorglider problem by [email protected]
Has anyone with an APIS motorglider had the unfortunate issue of having the cable that connects to the spring loaded prop inter-lock bracket let go, allowing the roller to ride on the flange of the prop hub? A local APIS has had that very problem and unbeknownst to the pilot the cable or the...

APIS motorglider talwheel by [email protected]
Has anyone had any experience in removing the steerable tailwheel fork from an APIS motorglider. I am having great difficulty in removing same, perhaps due to corrosion. I have tried various releasing agents such as Releasall, WD-40, etc, with no results. Any assistance greatly appreciated.
