Challenger Crashe at TEB by
Jon Kraus
It looks like the Challenger skidded off the runway and crashed into a
warehouse at TEB. Isn't this the same kind of plane that crashed on
takeoff in Colorado? It looks like the plane remained intact so
hopefully the passengers and crew are...

Cirrus or Lancair? by
Matt Barrow
Contemplating a Lancair to downsize my six seater to a four seat.
Seems, though, that the Cirrus SR-22 is rather more popular than the
Columbia 350.
Can anyone shed some insights on these two side-by-side?
Thanks,

Beech duchess comments? by
[email protected]
I've contemplating buying my first plane.
C182 is almost perfect for what Iwant to do with the plane.
alas the last few flights have had some significant overwater legs.
CRQ-AVX-SBA
I also want to be able to comfortably return home after dark.
Thus I was thinking about a light twin, something...

Specifically, who makes the kit for this and what are the approximate

flaps by
Kobra[_4_]
Aviators,
My wife and I flew to Williamsburg (JGG) in our 177RG on Sat. and stayed
until Sunday.
On base at Williamsburg I noticed that the airspeed was really high. I
raised the nose and pulled some power. I had 20 degrees of flaps in and
that is what I usually land with. On final the...

What size fuse for Cessna Clock? by
Mark Martindale
Does anyone know what size fuse is used in the clock circuit in a 172H.
This fuse is located in a holder by the battery box. POH only shows fuse
and no ampere rating. I would guess 1 or 2 amp??
Thanks,
Mark

Avoiding Shock Cooling in Quick Descent by
O. Sami Saydjari
My engine operating manual (for my Piper Turbo Arrow III) strongly
discourages pulling the power back and doing a quick descent -- it warns
of engine-killing shock cooling. Sounds reasonable to me...but it (and
my airplane manual) does not really seem to say how best to do a fast
descent when you...

Cessna 172 flap skin repair by
Steve
During the annual of my 1963 Cessna 172D the A&P discovered a one inch long
crack originating from the rear rivet line on both one flap and elevator. He
says there is a Cessna approved repair procedure to replace a portion of the
skin and no need to replace the whole part. Can someone direct me to...

PC power using aircraft ground by
[email protected]
I run a Motion LS800 for my EFB. I use a DC 12V to 19V power
converter to power my LS800 since I have a 12V aircraft system.
To minimize the number of wires, can I use a single wire to run +19V
from the power converter to LS800 and connect the ground from power
converter to LS800 thru the airfram...

Prop Indexing by
Mike Granby
Why are fixed-pitch props on PA-28s indexed to the 10-4 position from
the front?
a) To help hand propping?
b) To minimize vibration?
c) To improve performance?
My money is on (a) but others disagree.

Radio sidetone problem by
Marty from Florida
Hey again.
I have a new TKM Nav/Com (Michel MX385) in a 1982 C152. The radio is great,
clean, lots of volume. The sidetone, however, is very faint, almost a
whisper, and it's making me nuts. On a rare occasion, while I'm
transmitting, the whisper blasts out for a brief second, and returns...

Hi, All;
Have looked at some a/c for sale, and have found one I'm interested in.
The bird has not been flown in over two years, and is out of annual.
The owner said that he would have an annual done before quoting me a price;
guess he figures it will be worth more as a result. This was one of...

Fuel Prices and their Effect on Your Flying by
Jon Kraus
I did some checking around my area today (thanks www.100ll.com) about
what the fuel prices are, and was surprised to learn that my home base
(KTYQ) is charging $4.47 (the highest in the area), and that includes
our based-on-the-field discount. That is up around $1.00 from a little
over a year ago...
