mounting a PCAS on the glareshield by Mike Noel
Has anyone found an elegant way to mount a PCAS unit like the Zaon XRX on a compound curved glareshield? I'm using the provided Velcro in one corner, various sizes of self-adhesive bumpers in two other corners, and the fourth corner is left dangling about an inch in the air. I've had to add a...

Air-Oil Separators by [email protected]
I am considering installing an air-oil separator in my 172H (Cont O-300d). I have spoken with Airwolf who say theirs will work well and is ALMOST STC'd but they "will provide the required paperwork to make it legal until the STC comes thru" (whatever that means). I also spoke with Aircraft Spruce...

Differences in O-540 models by Charles Talleyrand
I read that the O-540-A1A5 weighs 396 pounds, but that a IO-540-A1A5 weighs 437 pounds. Can the difference between a carb and fuel injection really be 39 pounds? Also, as I wrote an IO-540-A1A5 weighs 437 pounds. But an IO-540-c4b5 weighs 402 pounds, but produces 50 horsepower less. What did...

Ratio of lease/purchase in general aviation? by Sunho
Among various options of buying/using a Cessna 172 or Cirrus Design SR22 or any other similar light aircraft, roughly how many percents fall under each category below? The options I know a - Outright purchase: you pay the whole cost of the aircraft upfront and own it - Loan/purchase: you...

I have an unbroken string of dated Oshkosh coffee cups (mugs) going back to 1974. I would be very happy to send somebody Paypal money to pick up and send me one from this year's show. I believe that the EAA Warehouse store will pack for shipment and there is a post office on the field if that...

Removing original equipment by Robert M. Gary
Is there any reason I can't remove my factory OAT and throw it out? I have a mechanical OAT gauge but would rather just use my EDM OAT gauge. The JPI says their gauge is only certified as "supplemental" but does the FAA even care if I have an OAT at all? I've been replacing the original OAT gauge...

Well the oil leak is fixed but I have another problem. Geesh it just never stops! The Airwolf remote filter adapter arrived as promised and it is a work of art. Very nicely machined parts. The one thing that was not readily apparent was the extra $200 for the hoses. The total cost for the...
