Stephen[_3_]
Who's the tallest person flying a discus 2a? Anyone over 6' tall
flying one? What's the comfort level for a 6 foot 1 inch person for
6+ hours?
Inquiring minds want to know. ....

Discus 2a cockpit size by
EdByars
Steve: I flew a Discus A for 4 or 5 seasons...several hundred
hours....many 4+ hr. flights in big crowded contests and one 1000K
flight of ~10 hrs. Then I was 6'-1/2". 175 lbs, average build. I used
a Softie 'Chute with one inch of Temper-Foam on seat pan for cushion.
Tight fit but comfortable...

Speed Astir owners? by
Grider Pirate
I have met a grand total of ONE other Speed Astir owner, and have
never set eyes on another Speed Astir in person. Yeah, I know, there
weren't many built, and they're not popular, but dang. I'm not up for
starting a 'Speed Astir' club, but wouldn't mind corresponding with
others who fly them. ...

U.S. Clubs by
jsbrake[_2_]
Forgive my ignorance in this question, but I'm curious...
In the U.S., do the clubs provide instruction for free, or paid? I
know the commercial operators are paid, but I don't know about the
clubs. Probably depends on the club, I would guess.
I'm in Canada, where the clubs all teach for free;...

Full-span flaperons as airbrakes? by
Bret
Hi, do any gliders have full-span flaperons that also act as airbrakes
(say at 70-90 degree), or do you lose all aileron authority when the
flaperons are that deflected?

Wanted: Trailer for H201 Standard Libelle
I am seeking a high quality, easy to rig trailer for my Standard
Libelle. I would prefer an Eberle or similar trailer in good shape
with dollies/cradles for the Libelle.

LS8a Wing Extensions by
Mike Williams
I'm trying to find out what LS8a will take the 18m wing extensions.
From what I've read, the "Pre DG" Ls8a will and the "Post DG" will
not.
Anyone know what serial number range or year manufactured that might
be?

Licensing order by
Matt[_4_]
Hi all,
I've been looking into getting my private pilot's license. I've taken
test flights in a cessna (172SP) and a glider (GROB 103). I really
liked the glider, but I also like the benefits of the private.
What order would be best to get both licenses? Should I get a private
first with a glider...

Hi all,
I'm trying to help a club member upload updated waypoint (.dat)
files onto his Compaq Aero 1520 for use with GlideNavigator II v3.0.
I'm an IT guy, but pretty new to the world of soaring software. We've
downloaded the .dat file (http://soaringweb.org/TP/ASA/nm_asa10.dat).
It opens...

The "Silly Season" by
Tom[_9_]
It’s spring! Let the soaring season begin.
We call this “The Silly Season,” when otherwise safe, competent pilots
do the dumbest things often resulting in accidents.
Glider clubs and commercial operations around the country conduct
spring safety seminars to help pilots get their head in the game...
