OLC max altitude self censorship by
[email protected]
I soar for fun, usually alone when normal people are working or doing some other socially responsible activity.Â* XCSoar or a (GPS-based) flywithCE position recorder is all I need for uploading .igc files to OLC.
On a warm/hot day over the Rocky Mountains, it's common to see 17,900' MSL on my...

Typical glide angles with airbrakes deployed by
Ronald Locke
Can anyone help with references for glide ratios for basic training gliders, Blanik, K13, Puchatek etc, with full brake or half brake deployed?
The internet is not very helpful for finding this information. A reference of 29 to 1 for a K6 -no brake and 7.1 full brake is about all I can...

Schleicher K 13 aerobatic approval by
James Rizzo Esq
We are examining the Type Certiifcate for the K13. The original indicates
aerobatics including spins "not approved".
in 1967 Schleicher issued an AD approving semi aerobatics and spins, and
printed a modified page 22 to the flight manual. Does this automatically
modify the type certificate? ...

PowerFLarm expected range by
[email protected]
So I've got my new PowerFlarm brick installed and I'd guess that it was losing the other PowerFlarm in the area when the distance between us was between 2 to 2.5 miles. Obviously this is good for collision avoidance, but I was kind of hoping for more range. The other pilot reported similar range....

New member so bare with me, but PW5, how does she fly? by
Howard Lau
I'm a rather new glider pilot and I am about to fly on the PW5 as my instructor deems me to be competent after training on the G103, I've seen photos and the glider seems small and the wingspan is only 10 meters or so, so I was wondering how she flies. Any PW-5 experiences?
Thanks!
Happy gliding!

When to best train glider and power? by
private
Many people suggest a large benefit for student power pilots to fly some
dual in a glider and similarly many parts of successful glider piloting can
be more cost effectively learned in a power plane. As an example, it is
cheaper to do multiple landings in a power plane when learning to land.
Do...
