SOLO flight rules by
Gig Giacona
You will have to be signed off by and instructor for that aircraft. Do you
already own a flyable Scorpion? You will most likely have to get back in the
R22 for your check ride.

Too close? Too small? by
[email protected]
Was flying a UH13ET recently and hit the tip of a blade on a tree. It
tore the end cap and the blades had to come off for inspection/repair.
Hmmm...a little too close.
Landing on an elevated pad about 10' off the ground and the skids hang
off front and back. Sometimes its a little dicey taking off...

Is MDHI going to make it? by
Matt Barrow
MDHI (makers of the MD500, 600, 900 series) has been dormant for some time
and is on the brink of bankruptcy.
Replacement parts are unavailable and they're delivering three or four
helo's a year.
Anyone care to speculate what's going to happen?
They have refused two or three buy-outs in the past...

number of rotor blades by
Rob Fonhof
Just a theoretical question that someone may be able to help with.
Alot of helicopters have only two rotor blades, ie:Robinsons, Bells, etc.
Others have multiples, ie:dauphins with 4, Hughes etc.
If a blade is thrown on a two blade, bend over and kiss your rear bye bye.
What would happen if you had...

Mini-500 parts selling on eBay by
planeman
I see Mini-500 helicopters selling on eBay, but much less these days.
Is there someone in the marketplace that can sell me parts if I was
compelled to buy the incomplete one selling now?

First 2 1/2 hours PPL(H) today! by
Simon Robbins
Today I started an intensive PPL(H) course. (I'm going to fly three times a
week, two hours a day.)
I did an hours trial lesson last year in an R22 which I enjoyed immensely
and cemented my determination to learn to fly these bizarre contraptions.
Finally, nearly a year later I've got the...

Why did this helicopter crash ? by
Iwan Bogels
Hi everybody,
This week I have uploaded a video of a helicopter crash on my website
(www.dappa.nl/crash.htm). Does anyone have a clue about the failure that
caused this crash? It is definately not an engine failure or a tail rotor
failure, but it still looks like a spectacular decend.
For the...

Gyrocopter Speed by
Mark
I have some basic questions about speeds of gyrocopters.
(Please forgive me if my questions are kind of basic. I'm currently working
on my private pilot for airplanes, with long term goal of getting into
gyros. I have a few hours time in gyros, but not enough yet to know what
I'm talking...

Need Micro Balancer by
Jim
I am looking for a Micro balancer for my Mini-500. While it is very smooth
in most conditions I wil want to use a micro balancer in the future as
future preventive maintenance will tend to cause changes to current
settings. Must be a 100 or so out there now with no use because most
Mini-500 owners...

Presidential Helicopter by
Helowriter
Politics and payback aside, is anyone else upset by the fact that the
Navy chose a less-safe, lower-performance helicopter to carry the
President of the United States?
For starters, the S-92 and EH101 were designed a generation apart as
far as flaw-tolerant design and birdstrike and turbine...

breaking it into...

In Flight Malfunctions and Emergencies by

Seems this area hasn't been touched in awhile and the group is getting

said, "YOU HAVE IT", but he was also quick to relieve me of the
anxiety and settled the...
