2-33 question by Pete Brown
Our 2-33 has an original dual Schweizer probe on the nose bowl. One of the probes is pitot but I can not figure out if the other is the static or a TE probe of sorts. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks Pete Brown --

US Airspace and Airport Data Update by 2KA
Updated US airspace information for the charting cycle effective 23 September , 2010 is now (a little belatedly) available on my website at http://www.soaringdata.info. Due to some technical difficulties, it hasn't yet been posted on the airspace section of the Worldwide Soaring Turnpoint...

FAI GP South Africa 2015 by Tim[_11_]
I would definitely fly a USA/North American GP - so long as I could find a competitive glider to borrow/rent. Yes, my means keep me stuck in Club Class :-( , but my ambitions are high :-) You know, there is mostly NOTHING but $$$'s stopping interested US pilots from going overseas and competing...

PW-5 longitudinal pitch oscillation by [email protected]
Am considering buying a PW-5 as my first single-seater for a variety of reasons, but the one aspect I don't like is that in rough air the tail is easily pitched up in flight from unexpected gusts once I'm off tow. This one's been weighed & balanced recently and its CG is perfectly centered within...

DG-100 FAA AD 2009-20-04 Elevator Control Bearing Stand by ContestID67[_2_]
This AD came out in the last few days and sent me into a tizzy. This has to do with the elevator bearing stand breaking loose. All applicable ships must grind off and replace the difficult to get at fiberglass and metal stand by Jan 19, 2010. The part itself is 39 Euros (plus VAT and shipping,...

An Historical Perspective on the Wright Accomplishment by Gary Osoba
With all the attention and analysis currently being accorded the Wright Brothers’ accomplishments a century ago, a question comes to mind: Is 100 years a long enough time to develop a balanced historical perspective of this achievement? I would suggest not, if the reviewer attempts a perspective

Discus Prandtl tube by Serge Serfaty
On the vertical fin of the original Discus, there are 3 holes. one for securing the elevator, one where the total energy antenna fits in and in between a small tube that sticks out about an inch and a half and is chromed. It looks to me that it could be a Prandlt tube. Unfortunately it is plugged...

Camera Mounts & Gliding Photography by Charles Petersen
Sometime about a year ago, there was an article in SOARING on the subject of camera mounts to facilitate in flight photography. Included were illustrations of 'universal' mounts for wings and a nose cone. I have lost the issue and the article. A young team of students from the Niagara College...

Specialty Tape Question by Doug Hoffman
I am looking for a source for a special kind of tape that I saw used on another glider. I don't know the generic name, but this tape is applied somewhat permanently to both surfaces that will receive normal gap sealing tape. I'll call it "anti-damage tape". The stuff I saw was 1/4" wide, very...
