Micro-wind energy by
Stephen Michalik[_2_]
Saw this on the OZ report... seem applicable to gliders!
http://www.designfax.net/cms/dfx/opens/article-view-dfx.php?nid=4&bid=315&et=featurearticle&pn=03
I could see a pilot throw a line out with 50 of these on/inside a flying tube that recharges a battery in 10 or 15 minutes. Reel the line...

Links for new people interested in gliding by
Lucky812[_2_]
I have people ask me about gliding all the time. I always send them to the http://www.letsgogliding.com/ site and forward them links for Bruno Vassel or Balleka videos on YouTube.
Does anyone else have any favorite sites that they send people to in order for them to get interested in gliding?

Hello folks,
My PIK-20B bags need replacing. Does anyone have suitable bags for sale?
- I am considering manufacture and have contacted Guy Achard / Airsolid. Are there any other fabricators?
- The 20B is allowed to carry 140 Liters, but the bag drawing on trafi.fi show a bag labeled 60L. Why...

Too fast vs too slow by
Ramy
Say overall speed is not an issue (you are not racing) and the only objective is to achieve best glide to make it home with a marginal final glide. Also lets assume you fail to maintain the correct speed and deviate +/- 10 knots. Which will have less penalty, flying 10 knots too fast or too slow...

Delorme InReach reporting elevation or altitude ?? by
[email protected]
Has anyone of the early adopters actually flown with the new DeLorme InReach ?
I had a contact with their tech support a while back, who mentioned that they report elevation, not altitude.
Also their tracking pages mention elevation.
I found tracks of Paul/Frank and Sean, but they look like they...

Schleicher K 13 aerobatic approval by
James Rizzo Esq
We are examining the Type Certiifcate for the K13. The original indicates
aerobatics including spins "not approved".
in 1967 Schleicher issued an AD approving semi aerobatics and spins, and
printed a modified page 22 to the flight manual. Does this automatically
modify the type certificate? ...

I just received some very bad news regarding Charlie Spratt. This is a very
tough letter to write.
If you don't know Charlie Spratt - he has been a soaring contest CD
(Competition Director) at many soaring contests around the USA over the last
few decades. He did a great job running soaring...

Mounting cameras by

Another style more widely used in the entertainment/movie industry is
called Cloth Backed Gaffers Tape. It features a strong cloth backing,
not plastic and a better adhesive. It will not turn to mush and leave
gobs of hard to clean off adhesive all over your finish. Its available

Did anyone fly a straight-out 500k flight originating in either the U.S.
central or eastern time zones between Oct. 1, 2002, and September 30, 2003?
The flight must be in a motorless glider with the 500k distance being
measured from release to landing.
If so, please contact me because you could be...

The camera shutter shows the propeller stopped on the Durango Pawnee.
It's a Hoffmann HO 4/27BHM-185 "quiet" prop, and your operation can
have one, too. Enjoy the phenomenal noise reduction and consequent

the USA.
