Reminder to SPOT and InReach Sat tracker users... by
Sean Fidler
All,
This is probably rudimentary but today I have noticed several pilots today with Sat Trackers but no tracking during their flights.
Remember that if you are flying in some "big" soaring location (or even your local club) with a SAT tracker that is NOT automatically "tracking" (pinging...

O2 Cylinder Sizes - What are people using these days? by
Bob Kuykendall
I'm looking to develop a standard O2 cylinder installation for the
HP-24 sailplane kit, and I'm curious what size cylinders people
generally have installed these days.
These days a lot of folks seem to be using EDS systems which seem to
offer very good efficiency at turning pressurized gas into...

Amazing 2-33A Records TN by
olddogcirrus
Sarah Kelly-Arnold and Rachel Flem had an amazing flight in a lowly
2-33A on Thursday. It appears they may have set 12 new TN records and
3 national records with this flight.
I think Sarah deserves more of a medal for sitting in the back seat of
the 2-33 for the four hours plus.. Anyway,...

1201 & Tow Planes by
Jamie Shore
The Soaring Club of Houston and the Houston TRACON have recently
agreed to allow tow planes to squawk 1201 during towing operations.
The ATC sector manager agrees that it is a good idea and it is worth
trying for a couple of months. After the trial period, our club and
TRACON will talk to review...

I know this has come up in the past, but i'm having trouble finding the previous posts.
I recently bought a Carat in a 2005 Cobra trailer and had it hauled from the west coast to here in Georgia on a flat bed. When i started pulling the trailer, the hubs started getting hot within 12 miles, the...

1998 ASW24 water bag leak where bag meets PVC valve by
Barny
It's leaking where the bag is clamped to the PVC pipe just before the
ball valve with the push rod. It's likely original as I bought it
with 230 hours in 2008. When I remove the clamps, what will I find
for the seal? Is the existing sealant RTV or a gasket? What to use to
re-seal it? Will I...

302 wind calculation by
5Z
The best way to get a good wind calculation while flying "straight",
such as on a final glide, descending through wind gradients and
shears, I do the following per conversation with Dave Ellis a few
years ago:
1. Turn 45 degrees off course and fly straight for 10-15 seconds.
2. Turn 90 degrees in...

CAI 302 repair advise needed by
Jamey Jacobs
The adjustment knob on the lower left of my 302 came loose today. It
was still attached to the metal rod that goes into the instrument and
it appears that a set-screw came loose from the far end of the rod.
Has anyone had this same failure?
Does you know if I can easily repair this or does it...

Is there any chance of soarable weather or would it
be the same as
northern Europe ?
If yes, could anyone recommend a place where I could
