Wing loading by Andy[_1_]
On Mar 9, 10:14 pm, Tuno wrote: Note that a major performance factor is maximum wing loading -- not just L/D! I was being left behind in strong conditions by gliders that could fly much higher wing loadings than my CZ. Ted is really into this high wing loading thing. ...

SeeYou on a Mac by Andy[_9_]
I've been using Parallels to run Windows on my MacBook laptop so I can run SeeYou and I've found it works really well and at very good speed. More recently I've tried one of the WINE implementations, called Crossover: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/ It allows you to run Windows apps...

Tubercles lower stalling airspeed? by Angus Mac Lir
Jokes aside, this is serious research: '...The potential was enough for the Ontario Centres of Excellence and the Ontario Power Authority to contribute about $70,000 in early-stage research funding, and to encourage collaboration with the wind-engineering group at the University of Western...

ASW 20 Handling Issues? by [email protected]
The ASW 20 seems to have a reputation for bad behavior in some configurations. Is this reputation deserved or overblown? What has been the experience of those who have owned and flown the glider? Are some variants of the 20 better or worse in terms of handling characteristics? Tom A

Discus b versus Discus CS by [email protected]
I've read that the Discus b and Discus CS are "identical" except that the CS is manufactured under license in Czech Republic. Both are, of course, available in the used-glider-market. Are there any differences in reliability, manufacturing qualty, etc that would favor one over the other? Tom

CG Trimming after Tail Boom Repair by [email protected]
A new weight and balance, after a tail boom repair, shows that several tens of pounds of trim weight needs to be added to a forward location in order to move the CG back into acceptable range. This fixes CG issue, but are there other concerns with doing this? Would be interested in experience of...

Bagmaker by Ann O'Rack[_2_]
What kind of an a$$hole, uses a very sad thread like this to try and sell some stupid idea. At 06:36 04 September 2007, Bagmaker wrote: This is terrible news, with another winch launching death in Australia on the weekend.

ASW27a Water Ballast Bag removal by [email protected]
Has anybody had involvement with the removal of ASW27a Water Ballast Bags? In particular is it possible to disconnect the bag from the wing dump valve by means of the inner large knurled bag connector rather than dismantling the valve from the wing itself.
