Stryker is a piece of ****! by
noname
According to internal Pentagon e-mails obtained by Newsweek, the Humvee
situation is so bad that the head of the U.S. Army Forces Command, Gen.
Larry Ellis, has urged that more of the new Stryker combat vehicles be
put into the field. Sources say that the Army brass back in Washington
have not yet...

F/A-22 vs. FB-22 by
MLenoch
Has the configuration and mission been publicized for the FB-22 as contrasted
to the F/A-22? The press has written of the two, but I don't recall the
descriptions and differences of the bomber aspect.
Thx in advance,
VL

F4U inverted gull wings by
Bob M.
I recently visited the Udvar-Hazy facility and received the usual
story about how the Corsair got its inverted gull wings, i.e. to
accomodate the 13 ft. prop which, in turn, was necesitated by the
engines power. However, the Hellcat used essentially the same engine,
and IIRC also used a 13 ft....

Why no CAS turboprops? by
Charles Gray
A question-- why haven't any CAS aircrarft been designed with
turboprops or the pusher varient (I foreget what you call it)? Given
their slow operating speed, it would seem to be a natural match up. Is
it a case the they are obsolete, or more of a case that people (read--
budget officials) have...

Hey, Germany Invented It... Face It by
Erich Adler
I see that no civil discussion can take place here despite the fact
that you "adults" claim to cherish military aviation. So why all the
fuss about German aircraft, jets or otherwise?
I live in America now but don't like the blatant arrogance I see
whenever history is talked about in regards to...

Russia Threatens to Strike Terror Bases by
Dav1936531
This article seems to indicate that the US State Dept. is pressing a policy of
negotiations with the Chechnyan rebels. Ummmm...calling Colin Powell: Get a
clue!! There is no reason to negotiate with the murderers of school children.
I'm with Putin. Fire up the bombers and wipe the criminals...

more radial fans like fw190? by
jt
The fw190 had a relatively compact, streamlined housing
for its radial engine, apparently due to an extra fan
at the cooling air intake. If this was so successful
why hasn't it been done more often? I may have noticed
that in more recent aerobatic models from east europe...

XB-70 vs B-2 by

Would it have made more sense to have built the XB-70 instead of the

much of the survivability of the B-2, perhaps at...

Honor to those who came forward by

On this 4th of July let us honor all who fought. But let us especialy never
forget the special few who came forward volunteering and said, "Take me. I'll
go" It was these men who formed American elite units; Marines, Airborne,
Seals, Submarine Service, Air Corps and Air Forces. We owe them all...

KC-767 ???? by
John Halliwell
In article , Cub Driver
writes
It's a great PR coup for Boeing!
Some people consider it a subsidy because it allows Boeing to keep the
767 line running, and that without the deal they might have to close it.
