Landing with reduced airbrake by
Richard McLean[_2_]
Hi guys,
Our club is having a discussion about the merits of reducing airbrake on
short final (well before the flare) in order to reduce the rate of descent
on
the last part of finals - in particular after using full airbrake to
correct an
overshoot i.e. you are still overshooting but reduce...

IPAQ Wiring - which pins are used by
Michael
There are commercial solutions availabe, ready to use.
But I would like to know which pins are used on the
IPAQ 3900 side for a two wire communication with the GPS
and which pins are used for the +5V power supply.
The IPAQ connector has some 22 pins and I guess that for
power pins 19 gets +5V and...

Wing Loading / climb rate by
Chris Davison[_3_]
A questions that I should know the answer to but don't...in a thermal, all
things being equal, will a 15m glider and an 18m glider with the same wing
loading climb at the same rate?
Thanks
Chris

To Walter Eisele and Comrades by
John
Give it up, Walter!
Nobody will buy your Eastern block manufactured "pseudo-LS" crap, and you
will only succeed in 2 things:
1. Causing the extinction of some exquisitely beautiful sailplanes.
2. Having you and your 'secret investor' go bankrupt.

Low Power Tow Plane for Antique Glider by
mjacob
Has any one heard of using a Champs, Cubs, Luscombs or Cessna 120/140
for tow operations for antique gliders like a franklin. I am in search
of a tow plane that can fly at 50 miles per hour or less.

ASW 19 instrument panel by
Charles Longley
I am looking pretty seriously at buying 1/2 of an ASW 19. The other partner thinks there is a mod to move the instrument panel to the canopy. I am not that excited about shimmying my legs under it. Has anyone done this? If so what’s the cost of the parts and how much time to...

Position Recorders, Accuracy, and Badge altitude gains by
Tony[_5_]
Leah and I are down here at Chilhowee for a VSA rally and had an enjoyable flight in the Ka7 today attempting a silver altitude gain for the highly sought after VSA Silver Coin. Unfortunately by the time we were hot, tired, hungry, in pain, and had to pee we hadn't quite made the gain. I found...

Soaring on Titan! by
C.Fleming
During the last few months, several threads have discussed soaring
possibilities on Mars, but what about Titan? The NASA probe Cassini,
launched in 1997 will arrive in Saturn's orbit this summer, and will send a
probe to land on Titan in January 2005.
Titan is Saturn's largest moon. It is a...

Schweizer Trailer by
Randy[_2_]
We purchased a Schweizer Trailer and we will be using it for our
2-33. We would like to
see how it is secured on the trailer. Does the stabilizer need to be
removed? Please send
pictures of your setup and any fixtures that you are using.
Thanks

Jets are not just for Jets anymore by
cdubya
Why not a turbojet on a glider? There are some designes like the Baby
Albatross http://www.skybench.com/images/graphics/bowlus.jpg that should be
easy to add an turbojet that can be buried in the rear of the pod with no
drag penalty and the exaust is away from any critical parts. These...

Noise issues with Oudie 2 in a couple different aircraft by
Doug Mueller
Is anybody else having noise issues when the Oudie is hard wired
to ships power. I know two aircraft that have the squelch turned on
to try to drown out the noise on the radio. I believe it is from the
Oudie while it is being charged. I recently added the Oudie to the
aircraft and now the radio...

Now that my PowerFlarm PCAS performs as well or better than my Zaon (thanks to the latest firmware and the shorter antenna)
Just last weekend I flew another side by side comparison between the ZAON MRX and my Power FLARM portable.
For about half of the flight the Power FLARM indicated a...

truck + 5th wheel RV + glider trailer ?? by
Steve Koerner
Hello all,
I'm wondering if anyone had ever tried using a fifth wheel RV to pull
a glider trailer.
This would make an ideal setup for going to glider contests if the
trailing dynamics were workable. I did a cursory look on the web
yesterday and found a 30 ft fifth wheel that did come equipped...
