RC madness by

From Rules Committee:
"This is where we are as of today for 2016 FLARM-related rules that will be recommended to the SSA BOD (note that rules are proposed by the RC and approved by the SSA BOD - this year at the Greenville convention):

Anyone have a Standard Libelle manual or knows where to get it (preferably

Many thanks,

hard wax application by
Tuno
I've never used hard wax before, but since the factory recommends it
on the gelcoat, I'm going to give it a try. I just have no clue how to
go about it. (My Google search results are great -- for hair removal!)
I have a Makita 0-3000rpm variable speed polisher, a brick of hard
wax, and a mandrel...

LXNav V7 vs Butterfly vario? by
Chris Davison[_2_]
Anyone got any in flight experience of the LX Nav V7 or the
Butterfly vario? I love the features of the Butterfly but looking at
YouTube clips it seems to be way too sensitive??
Any alternatives?
Thanks
Chris

Anti-collision system for gliders by
Karl Osen
Hello,
Is anyone aware of anti-collision systems (projects or products) for gliders
based on GPS and short range radio? Such systems broadcast position at
random times, allowing equipped vehicles (e.g. gliders) to be informed when
they have a dangerous trajectory relative to other equipped...

Q about mic wiring by
ken ward
I see that for my Peiker dynamic mic, the red wire typically connects to
the MIC pin of the radio, and the yellow wire (with or without the
braided shield) typically connects to the MIC GND of the radio.
In a typical installation, do people actually run a coax type wire with
a shielded braid (or...

Solid State Artificial Horizon by
nimbus
Dear Sir,
I read carefully the various posts on this newsgroup about the subject
(egyro-solid state gyro etc...).
In order to avoid heavy cabling, and minimising the available space (on
the instrument panel) and volume (behind the instrument panel), I am
slowly coming to 2 options:
Option 1 :...

FS - Mountain High EDS O2-D1 by
[email protected]
I bought a Mountain High O2-D1 flowmeter last year as a replacement for a personal one that had gone missing. I used it one time, then found my old one. It has all the parts that come with this unit (cannula, mask, bag, etc..) BUT NO TANK REGULATOR and is ready to go. Since I bought it Mountain...

Janus 2-seat glider as a club glider? by
K_Miller
I am interested in learning if other soaring clubs have a Janus 2-seat glider in their fleet, which model they have, its suitability as a club ship and whether they would recommend one to a club that was looking for a 2-seat cross country trainer.
If you have other personal experience in the Janus,...

Small Altimeter Options for Gliders by
joesimmers
I am going to build a new panel for my glider this winter and would
like to go with all small instruments.
The Altimeter is the only one that I am having trouble deciding on, I
thought I was going to need a "certified" altimeter but recently spoke
to a very reputable source and found out that a...

Grow soaring thru entertainment by
John
Added a similar comment when I filled in the SSA soaring survey.
Want to grow soaring? Market soaring as low-cost entertainment to
generate mass appeal. Develop a commercial gliding site that focuses
on giving rides only, quickly and cheaply.
Look at all the teenagers spending $5-$15 to ride...

Kobo vs Nook by
6PK
I have been running a Kobo Glo for three seasons now and for the most part I'm happy with it. The one problem I had encountered a few times when down low in the heat, the screen tends to fade out but so far every time it recovered-no problem it had never crashed.
I just wondered if anyone...

SeeYou Mobile with SN10B data by
kirk.stant
Does anyone have any experience driving SeeYouMobile from an SN10B,
using both the GPS data and the vario/wind/air data that the SN10 can
now transmit to a PDA?
Wondering if it is worth the trouble to have a new SN10 wiring harness
made to work with my PDA.
TIA,
Kirk

Motorgliders and gliders in US contests by
Brian Case
The rules say you may not exchange aircraft or even major components.
I belive there is an exception that a component may be replaced with
an exact replacement if the original compenent has been damaged
through no fault of the pilot or crew.
Here are the exact rules for regional contests:

DG-300 instrument panel by
[email protected]
I'm thinking of starting anew with the instrument panel in the 300.
The Terra 720 radio is out, and the L-NAV works, but it came with an
old Garmin 95 GPS, which looks more like a typewriter, and no logger.
I'm looking to do a Cambridge 302, with a good radio, and remove the
compass from atop the...

Syrian spies had penetrated al-Qaida cells throughout the Middle East,

Glider Pilot Dress Code by
Ken Kochanski (KK)
So, I had just started to assemble the ship, when my partner rolled
up.
Are you kidding? I would like to get out of the partnership, but that
could be tough ... could I get the FAA to pull his cert? ... after
all, this has to indicate some level of mental imbalance.
You can't even see the worst...
