Garmin GPSMAP 296 by
Cockpit Colin
Hi Folks,
I was very interested to check out the link to the (apparent) new Garmin
296 - what's confusing me though is that there is absolutely no mention of
it on the Garmin site.
Anyone got any ideas as to why this might be?
If I bought on right now I wouldn't even be able to update the...

Travolta - did he ever ditch an aircraft? by
TheShootingSports
Hi all,
I had once heard that John Travolta once ditched an aircraft. I have never heard this, but to settle a "discussion" could someone tell me if he did in fact successfully ditch an aircraft ever in his years of flying?
Supposedly, he was all alone when this occurred.
Your help is...

See and avoid by
Kees Mies
Hi All,
Just wondering.
Why do light aircraft do not have turning indicators?
The see-and-avoid concept has its shortcomings, but I have sometimes more
problems with see-and-what-is-he/she-upto??????
Kees.

flying in snow by
Teacherjh
In a typical spam can (say an archer), which has no deice at all (save pitot
heat), is it safe to fly in snow? More generally, of course the snow will
bounce off and not stick to the wings (right?) but what about the clouds that
are producing snow - will they also produce airframe ice? If it's...

Has anyone here been to Pate Museum of Transportation? It's just out of Ft.

I saw in the newspaper the government is taking the planes back from them
because of the poor shape they are in. I took my son there yesterday and the

max altitude deviation before bust? by
Magnus
I thought it was +/- 200 feet before you've violated if you are flying
IFR, but someone just told me it's a 100 feet, which seems a little
steep considering they use 1000 feet separations.

Snow-covered airplane by
Andrew Gideon
So what do we do with a snow-covered airplane to fly it? The snow pushes
off easily enough, so none of it appears to be stuck ice. Is it enough to
push it off with a broom, or should I have the FBO give it some de-ice as
well?
Silly question, I know, but I've never done this...

Gusts to 50 here today. The 99s, scheduled to hold their meeting here
today, had only two people able to attend -- and they drove!
I've never seen a windier March -- we've had winds consistently over 30 most
days.
