Improved shear/stall-spin alarms by
KiloKilo[_2_]
I just wondering if current technology could provide improved stall-spin warnings/information.
For example, suppose you installed a pitot at each wingtip (and I'm making an assumption you need this level of resolution) and had an instrument that monitored/stored wingtip airspeed and fluctuations …...

Do Purist Exhibit Higher Testosterone Levels ? by
[email protected]
One of the many questions that most of us purist ask examines the phycological and psychical differences in individuals that fly Motorgliders vs purist. I do think that the motorglider fliers should certainly be considered for a much different score system compared to the true real purist. So,...

Canopy tinting by
Paul[_11_]
Question: Is it possible to tint a canopy like a car, for example, using automotive window tinting material? I know some canopies are tinted a bluish color, but what about a dark black tint?
Thanks,

Whatever happened with the LS-10? by
Jonathan St. Cloud
Just curious whatever happened with the LS-10 I heard years ago when DG acquired the assets of Rolland-Schnieder they were to make an LS-10 with a larger cockpit. I also saw that a few LS-10 were made and seemed to go very well. Anyone know how many were made, did they perform well, why are they...

Puchacz New Cautionary Tale/Tail by
CindyB[_2_]
Folks:
You will not yet find this on any accident/incident reports.
There were no fatalities.
A pilot called me to relay this story.
The SZD-50-3 Puchacsz was bought used from Europe and
imported to the US with ~1900 hours. The glider was given a US
airworthiness inspection, and licensed by an...

Dick Johnson is gone. by
Burt Compton - Marfa
July 23, 2008
I just received a telephone call from a reliable source that Dick
Johnson has crashed at the combined World Class / 1-26 Nationals at
Midlothian, Texas (south of Dallas). He was flying as sniffer.
Apparently he dove-in after release from tow. My source reports that
Dick has...

Being towed too slow? by
Steve Leonard
Seems to be a common thing at contests or any other
time you are flying something different than what the
pilot is use to pulling. How about the next time it
happens to you, have your radio call be 'Towplane pulling
Glider (Insert your callsign here), please speed up
5 MPH' or some such if you...

Has anyone gotten a response from Centrair on Pegasus parts? by
tooromeo
I have sent to Emails to Centrair to get pricing info on the parts needed
for the AD's. I received one message that described the cost for the hinge
pins and rivets.
I haven't heard anything else from them about wiring money over there to
purchase the parts. Does anyone have their wiring...

1-34 Rudder by
DGRTEK
Serious question. I've spoken to several pilots regarding the handling
characteristics of the 1-34, and the general comment was that the Rudder could
have been a bit more effective.
My question is, Has anyone tried to modify the rudder to be more effective?
What would be the result of adding a...

Motorgliders and gliders in US contests by
Brian Case
The rules say you may not exchange aircraft or even major components.
I belive there is an exception that a component may be replaced with
an exact replacement if the original compenent has been damaged
through no fault of the pilot or crew.
Here are the exact rules for regional contests:

How do I legallly install winglets on a standard airworthiness certificate? by
Scott Alexander[_2_]
A friend in my club built a pair of winglets for his Standard Cirrus.
His glider is expirmental, mine is not. The total cost for him was
just a hundred dollars for supplies, and some free guidance from a
local IA/AP. The finished product looks fantastic! The mold came
from an American Spirit,...
