Maiden flight, N888LP LP-49 Glider by
Jim Meade
Today was the maiden flight of N888LP, the LP-49 experimental glider
built by Walt Bybee and purchased by me earlier this year.
It flew like a dream. Walt did a superb job of building it.
The first flight was a tow to 3,000 AGL on a poor lift day. It was
very well behaved on tow. After...

German registered glider : 3000h inspection, allowed to do it ? by
Ludovic
On a German registered glider.
Has anyone been allowed by the LBA or his local Pruffer to carry out
the 3000 hours (or 6000h) inspection himself ? What was the concerned
glider ?
I'm not talking about major or important repairs (if there are any
needed), but about the inspection + replacement...

Intermittant CAI-302a shutdown? by
Frank[_1_]
I have been experiencing some intermittant CAI-302a shutdowns, before,
during, and after flights lately. Here's what I have been able to
determine so far
The shutdown appears to be associated with the CAI-302a sensing that
it's input voltage is too low for normal operation. When I have...

Folks,
Has anyone out there successfully transitioned a Pirat from BGA to
EASA? If there is, please get in touch - there are a couple of
questions I really need to ask.

Emfo vs. Jaxida covers by
nimbus
"Does anyone have any experience with EMFO covers for sailplanes. I
would be interested in how they compare with the ones made by Jaxida.
"
This question was already asked in 2005....and no real answer was
given to the initial author (James d'Andrea).
I recently have received from Emfo company a...

Two recent incidents by
Uncle Fuzzy
Sorry if this is boring, but the last discussion pretty much focused
on the release / rudder waggle. I can't get to the NTSB report just
now, but I seem to recall reading in the report on the OTHER incident
(loose hand held radio blocking forward stick movement) that the pilot
released, still...

LS-1F question by
Brad[_2_]
I was looking at some pictures of an LS-1F..........does the fuselage
have a wing fairing? from the pix it appears the wings plug right in
to the side of the fuselage like an LS-3.
Does this model have auto-hookups? looks like maybe the elevator does.
Also, is the F model...

Side-mounted canopy -- Prevent blowing shut? by
V1
I have a side-mounted canopy (Ventus 2). I'm concerned that a gust of
wind could blow it shut when it's in the open position, breaking or
damaging the canopy.
I could close it every time I walk away for a minute or two, but
sooner or later I tend to forget and leave it open. I've thought...

prime the whale by
Brad[_2_]
The HP-24 fuselage is in the spray booth and tomorrow if all goes well
she gets the better part of a gallon of sandable primer sprayed on
her!
Gotta love those CostCo hoop houses, I put 1 and 1/3 of them together
lengthwise and it makes a reasonable spray
booth..............actually, it should...

lift on the Sierras? by
Hellman
I fly a motor glider out of the San Francisco Bay Area and frequently
head over the Sierras to the good soaring. My question has to do with
lift on the Sierras themselves.
I've occasionally been able to soar on them, but most of the time find
them marginal at best. Clouds which would indicate...

In search of old Blanik L13 Bulletins by
nimbus
In the context of obtaining the EASA Airworthiness Certificate, I need
a copy of 3 old bulletins:
L13/032 concerning a survey of modification
L13/039 : here they are speaking about a "bottom hinge attachment"
and I don't see what it could mean...
L13/044 : an inspection to be made on the...
