radio permit for german registered glider by
Andy Smielkiewicz
Hallo,
Anybody versed in german regulations?
Is there an official requirement - "aircraft radio license", to have a radio
in a german registered glider?
Not a "operator permit" but some oficial permit to have a radio
installed....
Thanks.

Is external "event marker" switch on 302 a "momentary on" type?
Can the mode/screen pushbutton on 302 be used as an event marker?
Thanks.

CAI 302 Utility Program questions by
Andy Smielkiewicz
Just got a 302 and playing with it at home (another few weeks till soaring
weather).
My intended glider setup is 302 and ipaq with WinPilot (302 is an upgrade of
my old system of Borgelt B50, Volkslogger and WinPilot on ipaq).
I've hooked up an ipaq and connected with 302 via Cambridge IQ255...

Alternative to 500-foot/1-mile rule by
Andy Blackburn
So here's a different idea:
What if, in instances where we are using a 1 mile cylinder
for the finish, instead of putting in a hard deck of
500', we make it so the scoring program can calculate
TOTAL ENERGY for each glider at the one mile point
(this should be relatively easy to do). The idea...

How to buy a glider affordably - redux by

Only point was that one would need to know your predictions

ASW-27B ballast tank ventilation by
Andy Blackburn
Anyone out there have good plans for the factory-recommended
ballast tank ventilation system? I've heard of (but
haven't seen) designs that include humidity sensors
so they know automatically when to turn off.
Thanks!

Wing Profiling Advice by
Andy Blackburn
I've got my ASW-27B in the shop to have some cosmetic
work done - building up the tip skids and fixing some
minor scrapes.
At the same time I'm wondering if a profiling job is
in order as I can now see spar and rib dimples top
and bottom all along both wings. The shop tells me
that it's going to...

Rudy still lives in southern Connecticut and is now

due to his eyesight.
A great, unassuming man with many fantastic flying
