Winch line drag by
Bob Johnson
Does any aerodynamisist (!) out there have an opinion concerning how
much higher than unity the drag coefficient of a rope or wire cable is
likely to go?

Brad hangs wings! by
Morgans[_2_]
"Bob Kuykendall" wrote
Today, Brad Hill fitted both wings to his HP-24 fuselage to see how
they fit. They fit fine and look great! We still haven't drilled the
main pin bores or installed the bushings, but it's looking pretty good
just the same.

SIGMA, the glider to incorporate all possible technical advances. by
john firth
The link below produces Nick Goodhart's essay on the marvels of
Sigma, a Britsh effort to make a world beater; this was before it flew!
It failed probably due to excessive mechanical complexity and the high
pilot work load. also the complicated extending flap proved difficult
to implement and...

Thank you by
jp
Thank you to all who have offered me help with setting up Thunderbird as a reader for rec.aviation.soaring. In spite of the help I have not been able to figure out how to set it up. I don't mind really. Google Groups is good enough for me.

Jim Kelly
Greetings!
It's the beginning of our soaring season here in Australia - and
thought I'd start a checklist for setting a Pocket-PC before (and
after) use with navigation. During the week my Pocket-PC is an
invaluable work tool - but some of it's 'features' are nuisances
in flight!
Anyone out there...

Who wants to try VR? by
[email protected]
I have an Oculus Rift S that I bought this summer for Condor use. Unfortunately I discovered that I suffer from acute motion sickness in VR. I understand that most people don't have this reaction, so I suppose I am just unlucky.
I'd like to offer this headset up to other soaring pilots who would...

The boat weighs 560lbs, and only 13.5 feet in length so it's a
