Wood questions - Public Lumber Company, determining species at the lumberyard by Corrie
http://www.publiclumber.com/2x4sitkaspruce.html Anyone had any dealings with them? They sell "aircraft/spar-grade" 2x4 spruce for $4.50 / lin.ft. Their prices on marine ply are about what I can get locally, but the price on spruce beats most I've seen. Of course, it's only a good deal if the...

What's the best auto gas for a/c use in California? by [email protected]
O.K. guys .. Anybody have any knowledge of which widely available mogas in California has the least amount of alcohol, MBTE (or whatever?) in it? Going to be using it in a 2 cycle engine in my motor glider, and really don't want anything except just plain old gasoline! Thanks for any input,

Folding Wings on a Sonerai II by JR
I see how the roots of the wing are held on the spar but I can't figure out how the wings are held up in the rear. My Sonerai has an eyelet under the fuselage. But what else do I need/ A pipe? Hook? clamp? John

Protecting fiberglass from fuel & oil by Paul Lee
I have a composite cowling. There are some places where fuel or oil might drip - for example below carb if overprimed. I would like to simply paint that area inside or cover it with fuel resistant stuff with a drain hole. Would any common paint do? Do I have to use the tank sealer stuff - I don't...

Leaning with EGT? by Chris W
It is my understanding that the computers in cars use oxygen sensors in the exhaust and not EGT to keep the mixture right. My question is why not use oxygen sensors in airplanes? Is EGT easier to interpret when it's a human instead of a computer controlling the mixture or is it just that it's...

The Garmin 430 GPS/COM/GS/VOR/LOC requires an external CDI for the non GPS NAV. The Michel MC-60 digital CDI http://www.avionix.com/indicator.html fits the Garmin 430 but is not TSO'd. Does the CDI have to be certified for IFR use in experimentals?
