Round vs Square E-Chute by
Jonathan St. Cloud
Three years ago when I got back into soaring I talked to serveral riggers about a round vs square chute. The riggers, including Allen Silver, all talked me out of a square for safety reasons. If you are seriously considering a square rig, I highly recommend you speak with a qualified rigger and...

What canopy adhesive to use? by
LongJourney
I've done a search in both RAS and on the web but I'm not finding the information I'm looking for. I'm restoring a 1963 S Austria and one of the previous owners used what I think is Sikaflex to bond the canopy glass to the metal canopy frame. It's now separating badly. What should I use to bond the...

L'Hotelier Fitting Safety Pins by
Dan Marotta
Those bobby pins are used extensively on my Stemme and I lost two that
fell out of their retaining strings during taxiing operations leaving me
with only one spare. A quick search found 1.2 mm hitch pins at WalMart
(of all places). I got a bag of 50 pins for under $8. Here's a link...

Bruno recruits dozens by
Soartech
It's a rainy day here and so I sort of drifted into watching a few of Bruno Vassel's awesome "Scenery tours of Utah" videos on YouTube. I bet most people have no idea that the mountains seperating the dusty, brown valleys of Utah are so green and intersting on top! Then I started reading the...

Sectionals for GlidePlan by
2KA
I've recently acquired the capability to make updated sectionals that can be used with GlidePlan. Kinda. Right now it is a pretty manual process that takes me about an hour or so for each one. I'm trying go gauge how much interest still remains in that program to see if it would be worth the...

Hangar dolly for heavy glider by
Dave Nadler
I have a customer looking for hangar dolly for heavy
glider (Antares). Anything that works for Duo, Arcs,
DG-500/1000, or similar will probably work. Anybody
know of commercial fabricators of such things, or
a used one available ?
Thanks,
Best Regards, Dave

Ventus ballast leak by
wladkummer76
Hi all,
Id like to ask for help here. My Ventus a SN143 right wing ballast is
leaking around the ballast valve actuator rod. I've contacted S&H but
no response so far. I do not know if a O-ring seal would fit in the
small recess.
Have anyone in this group experienced this problem?
Thanks to...

Property Tax on gliders in California? by
Mark Navarre
Have received a letter from the tax assessor requesting location and value info
on my glider for the purpose of property tax assessment. I am curious, why
now? Since I have owned the glider almost 5 years already, I wonder if it took
that long for the County/State to catch up on the paperwork.
The...

hard wax application by
Tuno
I've never used hard wax before, but since the factory recommends it
on the gelcoat, I'm going to give it a try. I just have no clue how to
go about it. (My Google search results are great -- for hair removal!)
I have a Makita 0-3000rpm variable speed polisher, a brick of hard
wax, and a mandrel...

Towing glider trailers with a VW Jetta Wagon? by
Allan[_2_]
I have one and I'm seriously thinking about putting a hitch on it to
(among other things) tow glider trailers with.
Anyone out there doing it?
What hitch do you have?
Which engine? I have the 1.9 TDI, which I think has plenty of power
for it...

dream time by
bagmaker
OK all, its cold (with an F), wet and dreary here in Oz, and time to fire up the dreams machine.
What ship, down to 3 options-
ASH26E
304S with Jet sustainer
Antares 20E
Which is your choice and why?

Soaring safaris by
flying_monkey
OK, it's the time of year to talk about soaring instead of doing it
here in the Northeast, so I'll ask this question. If a person was just
bursting to go soaring this time of year or up to the early spring,
maybe get some XC or badge legs, where would be the ideal place to go?
If it's not all the...

Parachute repack questions by
Bill Daniels
I'm going to watch my parachute get repacked this evening. The local Master
Rigger is teaching a rigging class and I'm invited to watch him repack my
'chute in front of the class.
Can I ask him any questions for r.a.s.?

Be ready for the worst! by
Ed Byars
Be ready for the worst:
I totaled my ASW-28 last summer. The next day while I was "out of it" in the
hospital, the Feds (FAA-FISDO not the NTSB {because I didn't get killed I
guess}) inspected the damaged glider and removed all paperwork and my
smashed PDA. A few weeks later they returned all by...
