Engine driven fuel pump necessary with gravity feed tank?? Lycoming by
RonLee
Situation with experimental airplane:
Gravity feed tank with Lyc IO320B1A fuel injected engine.
Gravity free fuel flow is greater than 20 gph and the engine burns 15
gph at full throttle take off.
Cruse fuel flow 7.5 to 8 gph.
I want to test the engine without the engine driven fuel pump as I
feel...

how roll fuselage/engine package by
Dick
Having a "better G" idea, decided to hang my engine on M1 fuselage without
wings in order to have the ability to roll it outside the hanger for breakin
efforts.
After struggling with several versions of a wooden framed, wheeled "wagon",
a thought occurred that I may be "reinventing the wheel"...

Question about rivets and riveting.... by
gregg
Hi all,
I am a complete newbie to the world of riveting. I have to do some and I
know nothing about it.
It *IS* aircraft related, though not directly. I'd appreciate any help I
could get:
I am refurbishing a old P-series flight helmet. They had leather oxygen
mask tabs, with snaps, on the sides...

Need a 2nd nav with GNS 430? by
Paul Folbrecht
I am doing some preliminary planning of the panel for my RV-9A and
wondering if a 2nd nav is really a necessity with a GNS 430 in the
panel. Seems to me that flying IFR GPS, with mostly GPS approaches in
the near future, I should not have much need for a 2nd VOR receiver to
identify intersections...

Anyone using elect. wire markers? by
MJC
Looking for some input:
I don't really see a need to buy several different colors of electrical
wire for my homebuilt when you can easily use just one color (white?) to do
it all. The only thing you then need to do is to mark the ends of the wires
to identify the circuits and where it all goes...

Audio Panel for Handheld by
[email protected]
I have a panel mount Microair transceiver and Xcom Intercom in my
homebuilt. I also take along a Vertex handheld transceiver when I fly.
Does anyone know of a small, (space is very limited), audio panel that
would
allow me to switch between the Microair and handheld?

AN Fittings by
Bruce A. Frank
I have a print that, as best I can read it, calls for a fitting # AN
867-6. Is that a standard 3/8 tapered (NPT) thread fitting for welding
on fuel tanks? Can anyone point me to a chart that has pictures of the
AN fittings and possibly a translation to equiv. pipe or tube
specifications?

Icom A6 Radio Registration Problem by
Clyde Torres
I bought an Icom A6 radio at SnF from Pacific Coast Avionics. I tried to
register it to get the warranty going and to get the rebate. When I try to
do it, it wants to know the "UPC," but it won't take what I give it. What I
give it is a number underneath a piece of paper that someone obviously...

Composite construction T-junctions by
[email protected]
Hey all,
When laminating several fibreglass tape layers over the fillet in a
T-junction, do you use the widest fibreglass tape on the first or last
layer? I've heard different answers from different sources, so is
anybody here doing this right now for a kit and what do your kit
instructions...

Glue for bows? by
Termite
I'm trying to figure out which glue to use for wingtip bow laminating. I've
been using aerolite up to this point for my woodwork, bu tI'm told this is
unsuitable for bows due to it's fast setting time. I'm thinking T88, but am
open to suggestions. naturally it has to be strong, but I also ned it to...

Need some electrical engineering help by
Martin
I need to design a device to help "cushion" the engagement of my starter.
The starter is 28VDC (drawing up to 500 Amps) on a T58-GE-3 turbine engine
installed in a non-aircraft application. I'm told this "starter slamming" is
a 'weak link' on this engine and often causes starter failure.

Any opinions on Zodiac XL? by

Hello to all homebuilders!
To be brief, I am planning to build an airplane and I am strongly
considering the Zenith Zodiac XL. It suits my purposes nicely, and I could
fly it under the Sport Pilot rules if the need arises (i.e., in case someday
I need to make use of the driver's license medical...

Vector graphic-top view of cessna or other high wing by

Hi all,
I'm looking for a line drawing type vector graphic of a top view of a
cessna single engine, or other single engine high wing plan. I can
convert the one in the cessna manual by scanning it, converting, and
retracing it, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone else has done it
yet and...
