Glider pull-up and ballast by
M B
The ballasted gliders resist deceleration better than
the unballasted ones. Golf balls are another example.
If we shoot a golf ball straight up and a ping pong
ball straight up at the same velocity, the golf ball
will go much higher because it resists deceleration
better (has more momentum). ...

Where to soar near Jefferson City - Missouri? by
Peter
Does anybody know where to fly in Jefferson City area? There are so
many beautiful hills but they are fenced. Has anybody cut a deal with
a farmer to use a field? Anybody interested in flying together?

Canopy... Clear Green or Blue ? by
CH
There are two reasons for a tinted canopy:
- against snow and clouds a tinted canopied glider can be seen better
- a tinted canopy creates less reflections inside (cloth, shoes, maps..
my friends with DG's prefer the tinted ones)

PILOT & AERODROME QUESTIONNAIRE
Please help. GAAC (in the UK) has commissioned a survey

Did you see the Aug 31 Dave Barry column? If you've ever had strong
feelings about the people who call you during dinner, you may wish to
let them know directly how you feel.
The call is free to you (it's about 25 cents to them), but they
indicated on their website they want to hear from you, so...

Mecaplex and DG recommend tinted by
John Galloway
True - but even on dull days in Scotland I have never
once in 27 seasons found sunglasses off to be preferrable
to sunglasses on in a glider.
The light reduction from a tinted canopy is a fraction
of that from the average sunglasses. They just look
dark from the outside because the observer is...
