Roll Stability in lifting body and flying wing aircraft by
Fred the Red Shirt
IIUC, the B-2 and F-117 rely on continuous feedback and control,
they could not be flown without computers.
So how do lifting bodies and Flying Wings like the facetmobile or the
Chance-Vought V-173 "Flying Flapjack" maintain roll stability? They
appear to have no or negative dihedral.

Azusalite wheels by
Fred the Red Shirt
The Aircraft SPruce Catalog lists Azusalite nylon wheels for
landing gear and also brake kits for the same wheels. However
there is no illustartion fo the brake kits or of the brakes or
wheels after assembly and installation fo the brakes. The parts
list for the brake kits mentions linings, but...

Might be the wrong group but a question about TERPS by
Frederick Wilson
Today there was a twin turbo-prop flying around (not traffic patterns)
Freeman Field, IN (SER). I was wondering if there is a set type of plane the
FAA uses to TERP the approaches. I do not think I've seen a plane like this
one.
For years they've had a few DC-3s setting out here, I thought it...

My two year-old is corrupted by
Frederick Wilson
So I am in the midst of building a master bedroom into my basement. Of
course the two year-old helps as much as he can. The other day I hear him
say, I got it Daddy. Turn to look to see him dragging an 8 foot 2x4 to me.
What a great kid.
Tonight I was working on minor things in the room while the...

These are the coolest certificates by
Frederick Wilson
I just got on of the new FAA pilot certificates. The hard card ones. I
wanted to change my number from my SSN to something different.
I think it took a month. But still the card is real nice. It is one of the
better changes out of the government.

Air compressor question by
Frederick Wilson
I am still working on home remodel so it will be some time before the
airplane gets started. I am pretty darn convinced that I am going to do an
all wood and fabric airplane. More than likely, the Fisher Tiger Moth.
Anyway, I have come to the point in my home remodel that I am going to need
an air...

Can someone explain wing loading? by
Frederick Wilson
Thanks Kevin.
Other than the stall info, wing loading is pretty much the same as blade
loading in helicopters. I guess that is why the Blackhawk is so stable in
the rear. The tailrotor produces something like 10% of the total lifting
force for a given gross weight. That is a lot of lift for those...

Recoil starters on small 2-stroke engines by
[email protected]
Many of the small 2-stroke engines appear to have the recoil
starter positioned so that as one faced the engine the starter
is on the right and the prop on the left. With this configuration
when right-handed person uses their right hand to start the
engine the rest of their body is between the...
