1-26 Inner Tube Mayhem by
JohnDeRosa
Our beloved 1-26 (the Karmann Ghia of sailplanes) keeps busting inner
tubes. Like every other flight! NOTE that there is nothing rough on
the inside of the tire or rim.
My thinking is that we have a mismatch between the tube and the tire.
The are in fact of different sizes. I should have...

1-26 Nationals? by
Papa3[_2_]
I think there's a Nationals going on, but I'm not sure. The contest is over in two days, and so far no word on who's winning or even if there are scores. Anybody have any intel?

1-26 Nationals? by
Papa3[_2_]
So, by now we should have chosen a new National Champion. Unfortunately, the SSA Website and the 1-26 Association Website are silent on that subject. It looks like they flew today, so I'm assuming there are scores. Anyone have the scoop?

1-26 noise insulation by
[email protected]
I'm a post-solo pre-rating glider student flying out of Littlefield, TX. I've just fairly recently started flying my clubs 1-26E (#663) and the wind noise while in flight is like standing next to a train. A lot louder than the rusty trusty 2-33 I've had all my training in.
I'm wondering what...

1-26 Price by
John Foster
Has anyone noticed the trend lately on price for a SGS 1-26? The prices seem to be going through the roof! Most of the recent offerings on W&W are over $8K, and many $10K+. I get that many have had a lot of hours put in restoring them and updating instruments, but really... Just a year or two...

1-26 Racing by
[email protected]
I have been reading some of the stories of the 1-26 Championships of years past. The Mockler boys and others who went on to racing higher performance ships cut their teeth doing these highly competative races.
Maybe some of you big wing boys (18-20m) might want to consider joining us for some...

1-26 Rudder for Marfa Landmark autographs by
Burt Compton - Marfa
Hello from Marfa in southwest Texas, USA.
The Schweizer 1-26 sailplane played a role in the early development of
Marfa, Texas as a Landmark of Soaring. Neil Armstrong earned his
Silver C here in his Schweizer 1-26 (prior to his longer XC to the
moon), and Wally Scott made some very long XC...

1-26 Scoring by
Robert Fidler[_2_]
Anyone have a clue about getting results for the 1-26 Nats? Looks like posting the results has not been a priority. Daniel Sazhin has been posting reports but scores are not part of his report.

Our club has a 1-26 open trailer. I am not sure but I think it an original
Schweitzer trailer. Do you think that this trailer can haul a 2-22?
Thank you for your help.

1-26 Utilization and Participation by
[email protected]
I would like to put out all call to all the clubs out there who still operate a 1-26. If you have new members just getting started with an interest in cross country soaring, your lowly club 1-26 can be a real economical tool for them.
The 1-26 Association has numerous awards to incentivize xc...

1-26E Sport Canopy - have one? by

I'm trying to find out if there is a 1-26E Sport Canopy (or factory
drawings) for a 1-26E model. Les Schweizer is looking, but in the
meantime If you've got any idea / leads of where I could find either
I'd appreciate the help.
