XM reception in severe weather? by
Andrew Gideon
A friend with XM radio in his car tells me that sufficiently poor weather
ruins his reception. Would the same occur with XM weather (ie. to a
handheld or a GDL-69)? I cannot imagine that that would be the case w/o
lots of complaints, but I thought I'd check here.
Anyone?
Thanks...
Andrew

XM question for Garmin 396/496 owers by
Kyle Boatright
What are the weather overlay capabilities of these units? Can you overlay a
radar map on top of your airspace map? Across a route you are navigating?
The reason I ask is that the Bendix/King AV8OR I have does not have these
capabilities and I'm trying to get a better understanding of what...

XM and the 396 by
john smith
Some posters have written that XM goes inactive if you haven't used it
in so many days.
How do they know when you use it? It is a one-way system!!!
You call to activate it and your receiver unlock code it included in the
downlink stream, correct?
Why would XM delete your unlock code from the...

xc tool. by
Todd Neidinger
Hi All,
As a long time lurker I have learning and gained much from this group,
now hopefully I can contribute some. I have written a tool that you may
find useful. It came about because my wife did not like me asking her
to lookup freq. and airport info while flying together. I'm a newly
minted...

There was a thread ages ago about the ideal list of things to take on a
long XC. I've lost it in a disk crash.
Can anyone send this to me?
Thanks

X11 pirep by
Andrey Serbinenko
Had a chance to try X11 today. First impressions, comparing to
13.4 I normally use:
1. gel pads of X11 are thinner, and they're flattened, and aren't
as tight against the head as the 13.4 ones. As a result,
passive attenuation of 13.4 is vastly superior to passive X11.
2. weight. X11 is...

X-wind simulator?? by
Paul M. Anton
Has anyone had any experience with this device?
http://www.dandyercfi.com/xwindsim/
Is it a valuable training aid or just another toy?
I will be driving up through California and am considering taking a training
session.
How else could I try my hand at howling gusty crosswinds and not worry...

X-Plane Install by
George Graham
After reading the great article in EAA Mag about the X-Plane flight
simulator, I went online and bought a copy. I installed it and the
scenery disk per instructions, even logged into the online help and
downloaded the Cozy IV airplane. I can fly it from my home airport
(ksrq) in Florida. I have...

X-Plane Author's TFR Story by
Marco Leon
I don't remember seeing anything about this here. Interesting story:
http://www.x-plane.com/adventures/tfr.html
Austin also has his Cirrus for sale as well:
http://www.aso.com/aircraft/97947/
I hope it's not because of the TFR violation. Maybe he's upgrading?

Scenario: student pilot on x-country solo. About 50hrs.
Planning went fine. One long outbound leg (to satisfy the FARs) and two
shorter inbound legs to fulfill the three landings requirement.
Outbound leg: went great. Course maintained and all visual landmarks
nailed, within a minute of...

X-country course leg extender??? by
Casey Wilson
The fuel capacity of the 172M that I fly is considerably larger than my
bladder capacity, that's a fact. A glider-guider friend of mine suggested I
think about one of these:

Anyone have one of the first units? WxWorx website is stating they are now

WxWorx gets a workout by

Yesterday was one of those sopping wet, unstable Gulf Coast spring days
and I needed to get an Angel Flight couple from Mobile to Jennings, LA
(3R7, west of Lafayette) in the afternoon. By the time we were ready to
leave BFM at noon, the NEXRAD on our route looked like a cheap Hawaiian
luau shirt...

WxWorx customer service by

My 2-year old WxWorx receiver wouldn't power up in the airplane
weekend-before-last. Investigation showed the fuse blown in the DC power
adapter. I replaced the fuse and the new one promptly blew.
I sent the receiver and the power adapter back to WxWorx for repair the
following Monday (8/22). ...
