I have WxWorx using the NavAir software on my Toshiba PDA.
I recently flew down to Florida and back. My experiences were similar. This is an absolutely fantastic product that really increases the utility of my aircraft. The software works well, and it is really nice to get the combined NEXRAD and lightning strike data 100 - 150nm out to start formulating plans dynamically. I looked at the WSI product, and it is nice as well, but just too damned expensive for me. The portable WxWorx system was less than $1500 out the door, not including XM subscription. I also looked at installing a Stormscope, but dollar for dollar (including potential installation and maintenance nightmares of spherics devices), WxWorx beat every other product I looked at for my needs. I would not have even attempted some of my flights without it. Mark "Peter R." wrote in message ... Loved your analogy. The entire East coast US has been looking like that for the past two weeks, it seems. I am investigating WSI's downlinked weather and your PIREP has helped me to see the value in having radar images in the cockpit. -- Peter |
