Have you tried AOPA ASF's Refresher? by
Skyking
The Aviation Safety Foundation has a FREE
online refresher which is good for the novice or
expert. It is a good place to get your WINGS
certificate it is inconvenient to attend a regular
meeting.

Engine "on demand" regulation?? by
Frode Berg
Hi!
Just spoke to my mechanic, and he told me that there will be a new
regulation here in Norway for private aircraft that takes away the mandatory
engine replacement after approx 2000 hours.
Instead, an engine is allowed to run indefinately as long as the regular
maintenance is carried out at a...

Switching instructors? by
Dave Jacobowitz
Here's a question for the group: I've got a flight instructor that I
work well with. I finished my private with him and did my entire
instrument rating with him. I want to start on my commercial (SE, and
then CFI, CFII, and later ME) and was wondering if there is any good
reason to look for someone...

how do you document dates of ratings? by
Sylvain
so, as usual before retiring to bed, I am going through
the scriptures, i.e., 14 CFR, and tonight I was perusing
chapter 61 -- which I am sure is on everyone's bed stand --
and came across a part that I haven't fully memorized yet :-)
This is part 61.31(j)(2). Part 61.31 covers those...

Cessna 172 turns 50 by
[email protected]
This came right from the Cessna website:
Lakeland, Fla., April 4, 2006 - When the Cessna model 170B taildragger added the patented Land-O-Matic tricycle landing gear in 1956, the venerable 172 was born. Since then, nearly 40,000 Skyhawks have been produced, making it the highest-volume...

Is lateral acceleration an accurate indication of slip? by
jschall
I am a former student pilot (with about 15 hours) who is developing an autonomous UAV.
I've read contradicting reports that lateral acceleration is and isn't an accurate indication of slip. The inclinometer ("the ball") in a full scale/manned airplane measures lateral acceleration.
I've read that...

Where to go for on-field camping near Texas? by
[email protected]
I am thinking of renting a 172 and going for overnight camping within 4
hours flying distance of North Dallas.
I am an AOPA member and I did a search for the fields that allow
camping but without descriptions, it is hard to decide.
It would be nice to hear from others who have done this.
All we...

British Aviators Alcock & Brown by

CAN YOU HELP?
OBJECT OF ENQUIRY:
I'm seeking proof that either/both the transatlantic pioneers Sir John
Alcock and Sir Arthur Whitten Brown stayed at the `Red House', West Byfleet,
near Weybridge, Surrey at or around the time of their flight in June 1919.
If proof can be found, there is a strong...
