GPS reception today by
Brad[_2_]
I got all my cables today to hook the GPS and the PDA up.
But...........this evening, here in WA state I have not been able to
get a good lock on any satellites.
Anyone else have any problems with their GPS today?
Just curious.

long flight by
Brad[_2_]
My glider N199AK supposedly landed at Johnstown, PA airport last
year..........I have the Port Authority bill sent to me to pay for the
landing fee.
My question is: can I use this bill as proof that I flew there from
Washington State? And if so, I believe that may make my flight one of
the longest...

math problem-slightly OT by
Brad[_2_]
ok, I'm pretty math challenged....so here goes......I'm about ready to
start power cutting/buffing my HP-24 horiz stabilizer..............the
RPM range for my power buffer is 1000 to 3000 rpm. the rotary knob on
the power buffer is numbered from 1 to 6.
I am pretty sure that number 1 would be 1000...

soaring video with Flarm in use by
Brad[_2_]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWRX1hcz0_0&feature=player_embedded#!
the guy shooting the video has a Flarm on top of his panel, in some of
the scenes you can see the display lighting up and see the target
sailplanes. I thought this was pretty cool to see Flarm in action.

PNA accessory by
Brad[_2_]
With the explosion of PNA's/Tablets on the market and the availability
of powerful soaring software that can run on them, it would seem that
some sort of air-data pack could be developed that would allow a PNA
to get pitot/static information for accurate wind and STF info. I know
this is available...

another gelcoat story by
Brad[_2_]
When we made my fuselage, it was winter and we were heating the shop
with a propane heater. Propane releases moisture during combustion.
So........molds are waxed multiple times, gelcoat (shurfab polyester
product) is sprayed into the mold, we leave the heater on and go home
for the...

Flight task question by
Brad[_2_]
I am using XC soar on my PDA. So far all I've done is set the "task"
for Arlington, so the PDA is telling me what to do to get back to AWO
"safely".
Today I created a task, not really expecting to fly it but more to
see
how the waypoints/turnpoints were handled on the screen.
I set the first...
