Pawnee landing gear by
wowway news
Each side of the landing gear of the Pawnee is fastened with 3 bolts. Each
fore and aft outboard bolts connect through 2 sets of tabs welded to the
lower fuselage longeron. Our right hand gear is slightly loose at the
forward attach point . Either the holes in the 2 tabs are worn out-of-round...

Aerobatic Two Seat Gliders? by
Terry Pitts
There was a recent thread about inexpensive two seat gliders. I made me wonder how crazy I might be.
I'd like to buy a two seat glider that could be used for beginner to intermediate-ish aerobatics. Fun for me, perhaps someone might want to do some aerobatics for a flight review instead of an hour...

Anyone get hassled for exceeding max car and trailer length? by
Gordon Boettger
Looking at getting an RV (25' length). Combine that with a doubleseater glider trailer and I'm at 60'. I'm in NV, so I'm good, but going into OR I would be 10" over the legal limit. Anyone out there run into any issues with the "fuzz" for exceeding combined vehicle and trailer length?
Thanks

PW-5 longitudinal pitch oscillation by
[email protected]
Am considering buying a PW-5 as my first single-seater for a variety of reasons, but the one aspect I don't like is that in rough air the tail is easily pitched up in flight from unexpected gusts once I'm off tow. This one's been weighed & balanced recently and its CG is perfectly centered within...

Glider cockpit size by
Steve Muhli
Hi, New to this forum, thought I 'd pose a question..... I have a glider
rating
from years ago, I was wondering if anyone can suggest a list of gliders
that
are more "roomy" inside since I am 6'4" . I am planning on going to the
SSA
convention in Reno in 2018 to check out the new stuff....I've...

Blow holes vs turbulaator tape. by
Jonathan St. Cloud
Just curious if there is research that compares blow holes versus tabulator tape as to effectiveness and drag? i.e., are the bow holes worth the maintenance or is tape effectively just as good? Does the new Ventus have tape or blow holes?

Towing X2 - Possible? Dangerous? Illegal? by
OHM Ω
A friend of mine (seriously) is about to retire and wants to begin touring the US with an RV while towing a glider trailer. Been done many times. No issues to speak of with this concept.
But he also does NOT want to use the RV to tow the assembled glider around the airport during events. He...

CAI 302 date problem by
Bernie[_4_]
I flew yesterday (26 October) and had two hours, later I used the
Cambridge utility on my PDA to download the flight log from the
Cambridge 302.
First thing I noticed was that the utility said the flight was 111
hours long, and that the date of the flight was 21 October.
I later checked the log...

Aerotow Regulations and Rope Specifications by
Markus Graeber
I am in the process of writing up some regulations for aerotowing to
standardize operations and ensure safe procedures for us here in
Colombia. The civil aviation authorities don't know a thing about the
intricacies of aerotowing so we are on our own with how we want to go
about it. Hence the...

Advertising for tow pilots by
[email protected]
like many clubs, we have troubles finding enough tow pilots. We have a Pawnee tow plane so we need to find the ever fewer pilots that are tailwheel qualified, and meet the insurance minimums. The other big issue is finding the candidate pilots that are qualified and interested in spending their...

Touring the USA with glider by

On a whim I said to my long suffering wife that I would like to tour the
USA with my glider, see the sights and enjoy the soaring. Surprisingly she
said that she would come with me!
I have a time budget of 2-3 years but modest financial resources. So
gents...where and what time of year? If I...

The Reformed Smoker Challenge by
JS[_5_]
With all the talk on 13.5m electric stuff, new class of "soaring competition" etc... A challenge for anyone currently flying only gliders with some sort of "method of propulsion":
Fly a season in pure glider to get your chops and credibility back up.
You don't have to buy a new glider, either...
