Portable audio variometer by
jeplane
Do you use Malletec mini vario?
If so, what are the pro's and con's?
How about the "Ascent" vario sold on wings and wheels?
Thanks

Gheirlen trailer by
jeplane
I have, I beleive, a Gheirlen trailer, although I am not sure of the
spelling...
One of the two spring, helping to open half the trailer up, is broken.
Is there somebody who would know the what, when, who, how and where
to replace this part?
Thanks

Gelcoat repair by
jeplane
Visualize a glider on a experimental certificate:
1- Does it take a "pro" (I.E a glider repair shop used to do this on a
regular basis) to redo the gelcoat on a glider legally, or can it be
done by anyone?
2- What needs to be entered in the logbooks, if any?
Thanks

lightning stikes a ASK21 by
jeplane
There is an article in this month of "Business & Commercial Aviation"
regarding lightning.
It says that in 1999, a ASK21 desintegrated large sections of the
fuselage, while flying in clear air, about 800 yards from a cloud.
Both pilots were ejected from the strike, but fortunately were...

US mountain flying Colorado by

Interesting reading about mountain training and mountain flying
(gliders) in France. Thank you for posting the questions and
answers.
Several times a year, some of the Colorado Soaring clubs
re-locate to mountain airports to fly for the weekend...
often Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July and...

Winch operations in MN? by
[email protected]
My understanding is that Frank Whiteley and Bill Daniels qualified a
commercial operator and several local pilots/CFIs on winch
operations somewhere in Minnesota.
Please tell me which airport and operator contact info?
Were any of you there?
Have you heard about this?

Sun-N-Fun, soaring at Seminole Lake Gliderport? by
[email protected]
Is anyone else going to Sun-N-Fun in Lakeland, FL, Apr 4-110, 2006?
I go a few days early to do some soaring and seaplanes. :-)
My schedule at Seminole Lake Gliderport is Monday, Apr 3, 1-3PM
in the Grob-103. It usually takes a few minutes of paperwork and
logbook review, 2 pops and I'm checked...

C182 tow hook arrangement? by
[email protected]
I'm looking for a way to put a Tost release mechanism on a C182R.
We have a Tost release on the Pawnee, and it looks so much more
robust than the Schweitzer mechanism.
Wings and Wheels has the Tost arrangement for C172 and Maule, but in
Colorado, Civil Air Patrol has neither of those...

Soaring near Paris, France (Not Texas :-) by
[email protected]
Greetings, all!
My work will take me to Paris, France Nov 3-10, 2004.
Would you please be so kind as to forward me contact information
for a glider club or operation where I might fly as a guest
on the weekend of Nov 6-7, 2004?
I don't need to solo or go cross-country... just a "friend"
ride...

Cessna 182 Tost 337? by
[email protected]
I've had a Schweitzer tow hook jam on a Cessna 182.
As we are about to put a tow hook on another Cessna 182, I would
really prefer a Tost (like we have on the Pawnee and the Maule), for
safety and so that we can share the same tow rope. :-)
Does anyone know of a Tost 337 or STC for a Cessna...

Discus 2b cockpit comfort? by
Jeremy Zawodny
I've never flown in a Discus 2b but have fantasized about getting one
someday. I do have a dozen or so flights in the font seat of a Duo
Discus and while it's a *great* ship to fly, it doesn't have as much
room in the front as our club's DG-1000 does (need room for keeping
stuff during the flight)...

Used Cobra Wing Rigger For Sale by
Jeremy Zawodny
When I bought my 304C a few years ago, the previous owner included a
wing rigger that he's previously used on his ASW-20.
I have no use for it and am pretty sure it doesn't fit the fatter wing
on my ship anyway (I'm fairly sure he tried). Either way, I don't need
it and it has been in my garage...

Glider transport costs? by
Jeremy Zawodny
I've been shopping around for used gliders and one of the factors I need
to consider is how far away it is. Obviously, if it's far away, I'll
need to get someone I don't know to do the pre-buy inspection and will
pay more to get the glider to me.
My local FBO says that $1/mile is a good figure to...
