We've had (and still have the remains of) numerous V1 launcing sites here
in the vicinity. Several were situated in pine forests.
The Germans would cut clear a strip of pine forest, then they ran steel
cables from the tops of the trees crossing the strip and hang the tops
from
the cut down trees back in.
That way from above it looked like nothing was there but a V1 was spewed
out the side of the forest every now and then.

There are still sites where the cables are still visible.


Bert-Jan,

There any pictures that you know of showing this, or are they close enough
where you could take some and post them? I knew about some of the sites in
France and Belgium, but thought that they had been leveled post-war.
