My Becker radio stopped working recently and I'm trying to determine
what to do next. It transmits a carrier tone when the mic is keyed, but no voice. Any speculation on what is most likely the problem? The wires that go from the mic to the D connector on the back of the radio test positive for continuity. I assume the Becker USA office in Florida is the best place to have it sent, if necessary? -ted/2NO |

My Becker exhibited the same exact problem. Replacing the mic fixed the
problem. Mark wrote in message oups.com... My Becker radio stopped working recently and I'm trying to determine what to do next. It transmits a carrier tone when the mic is keyed, but no voice. Everything else is inside the radio. -Dasve wrote in message oups.com... My Becker radio stopped working recently and I'm trying to determine what to do next. Hi.
I have a Becker AR 3201 and it don't turns on. I know the radio has an internal fuse but i don't know where. In the Installation Manual i only found the wiring connection diagram. Anybody knows where can i found maintenance and repair manual, so i can see the several components of the radio? Thank you. Best regards from Portugal. |

I have not yet managed to locate a circuit diagram (schematic) for the AR3201 radio, but I will keep looking. |

Mike,
Cleaning contacts is a good thing to do, but using any type of sandpaper is probably not the way to go. It would be similar to trying to clean bugs off the leading edge of your wing with a course file.. It can be done successfully but you may get unintended consequences. Electronic contacts usually have a few microns of gold, etc. deposited or plated on them. It is quite easy to knock off a significant amount of that layer of good stuff with sandpaper, even very fine grit. So use of electronic contact cleaning solvents is the best way. Alternately, use a pencil eraser. It has a very small amount of abrasive that can clean the contacts nicely without doing too much damage to the contacts. Of course, any sort of mechanical cleaning requires contacts that can be reached by the abrasive and many of the connectors have male and female counterparts that are inside protective housings that would preclude mechanical cleaning. And if you can possibly get the abrasive into one portion, the other side is left untouched. Chemical cleaning is probably best overall. My $0.02. Larry "01" Zero One i |
