If you look at report #6, this happened just recently near me. Seems the pilot had engine failure during take off and attempted to make it back to the runway. He didn't make. He didn't miss by far, only shy about 100-yards, or so the news print article I read stated. His plane hung in the trees for a couple of days while it was being investigated. Both the pilot and passenger walked away. The airport is right on the lake. In fact, water and trees fairly well surrounds three sides of the runway and might explain why he thought the runway was his best bet. |
