I am going from El Monte (EMT) to Oakland (OAK) tomorrow. With single engine
plane at 120 knt, which arrival procedure / approach can I expect from ATC? Thanks, Robin Hou |

I don't have my approach plates here, but I think if you're coming from the
south they'll want you on the arrival that takes you from: PXN (Panoche) V301 SUNOL and then in on the ILS for 27R. Bay Approach will say something like: "maintain 3200 until GROVE cleared approach." I don't think the ILS has a DME, so GROVE is a cross radial fix. The TAF looks like a layer at 1,000' until noon - you'll break out inside CASES. Cool. "ROBIN FLY" wrote in message ... You will only be talking to Bay Approach if you go through a time warp. About a year ago they changed to Sierra Approach and a few months later they changed to the current Norcal Approach. GROVE is charted as D11.7 OAK or the SJC 336 radial. Charted altitude for GROVE is now 3,400'. The TAF looks like a layer at 1,000' until noon - you'll break out inside CASES. Cool. CASES is not on the current chart (Jepp or Terps). The FAF is FITKI (D5.5 OAK) which, on the GS, you should cross at 1,500'. AOPA members can find the ILS 27R Terps plate at: http://download.aopa.org/iap/2003090...ls_rwy_27r.pdf "ROBIN FLY" wrote in message ... I am going from El Monte (EMT) to Oakland (OAK) tomorrow. They cleared me to SNUOL first, just as you advertised. Having an idea of what to expect really settle the butterflies down, especially when arriving at a big airport with a dozen approach procedures. The TAF looks like a layer at 1,000' until noon - you'll break out inside CASES. Cool. It was very very COOL!! Thanks again. |
