It seems most folks are not terribly interested in investing the time to create anything that remotely resembles a literary work; they'd rather kibitz. But at least the rec.aviation.stories newsgroup still exists, so there is hope... That's too bad 'cause I could read 1st person aviation stories for hours. Terrific! I'll send a copy over and see if it gets posted. I've heard a rumor that the moderator isn't awfully fond of people who post through remailers. ![]() As moderator of the rec.aviation.stories newsgroup, I have pledged to adhere to the newsgroup charter. Anonymous articles are specifically mentioned in the newsgroup charter. They are appropriate for that newsgroup, because it is important to have a place where airmen can speak freely about issues that may, for instance, be grounds for an enforcement action without fear of reprisal. And because the newsgroup is moderated, there is little fear that it will be trolled by unaccountable mischief makers. ================================================== ====== rec.aviation.stories Anecdotes of flight experiences. (Moderated) CHARTER: A home for one of the greatest strengths of rec.aviation -- longer postings of stories and experiences, including descriptions of cross-country trips, "I learned about flying from that", airshow reports, and so on. The moderator will reject shorter articles and subjects which aren't appropriate to the group, and will ensure that articles meet minimum readability standards (i.e., line lengths). Follow-ups will be directed to other groups. It is expected that this group will typically contain only one or two articles a week. Articles for anonymous posting will be accepted. |
