Anybody know of a PC flight simulator that has full flight controls
combined with a GNS-430 or 530? I have Garmin's 430 simulator without flight controls, and On Top with controls and a 1990 GPS unit that doesn't have approach fixes in the database. It'd be nice to have both in one package. |

![]() Reality-XP ( http://www.reality-xp.com ) has an add-on to Microsoft Flight Simulator which allows the integration of Garmin's 530 simulator engine with FS2004. I have the package and it works great for me. You get the identical user interface of the real thing. -Jim |

This integration was written by someone who no longer does it. His first version would couple to FS 2002's nav mode, thus the autopilot would follow the Garmin 530 active flight plan rather than the FS GPS flight plan. But, his second version lost that coupling capability. Will this one you are using couple to the autopilot? Nothing about that is mentioned on the web site. Also, I presume you're stuck with Garmin's August, 2002 nav database? |

In the version for FS2004, the autopilot can follow the flight plan in
the GPS. The flight plan must be entered into the GPS as you would with the real thing, i.e. by pushing (simulated) buttons rather than the FS "flight planner" feature. I don't think you can update the nav database for the simulator. -Jim |

I've been to Reality's website but I'm still not sure of its capabilities. Specifically, can the Garmin 530/430 be added to aftermarket airplanes or only the original MSFS planes? Thanks. The reality product includes an installer which provides a button on
the main screen which you can use to pop up the Garmin screen. If you want to make it look like the Garmin is installed on your 2D or virtual cockpit, you have to edit the panel config file yourself or use one of the templates that other users have created. I think the simiple pop up method should work for 99% of add-ons. It is very easy to apply. I added the GPS to an Archer from Flight1 and a CJ1 from Eaglesoft without any problem (including the panel modifications). -Jim |

Specifically, can the Garmin 530/430 be added to aftermarket airplanes or only the original MSFS planes? Thanks. There are two ways to buy this add-on GPS for the sim. One method is to purchase an add-on aircraft that is equipped with it already. However, somehow Reality XP has locked the GPS to the add-on aircraft so you won't be able to use it with other aircraft. The second option is that you buy the GPS instrument outright (for roughly the same cost as an add-on aircraft). This gives you the flexibility to install it to any aircraft, be it an MSFS default aircraft or an add-on aircraft. Reality XP's website has this option for purchase, whereas other sites, such as Flight1, have the aircraft with this GPS gauge included. BTW, Reality XP's Garmin 430/530 instrument is a front-end sim interface for the Garmin GPS simulator (available at Garmin's site), so it has just about every GNS430/530 feature available for the sim pilot. This makes it an excellent training tool coupled with the sim. -- Peter ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

X-Plane also has a limited functionality Garmin GNS430/530 available. For the most complete GPS features, though, you would be best served by getting Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004 with the Reality XP GPS add-on, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread. -- Peter ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

I've been using FS since the Bruce Artwick days, but I never got into panel modifications. If I install the GPS in a plane that I already have, can it be integrated with the autopilot? Thanks.
