LAX today: Anatomy of a runway
Here is a shot of a cross section of old runway (along with a friend I
have worked & car pooled with for over 26 years. We must look alike because people have confused us the whole time.) I added him for scale. He is six feet tall. The first layer has been poured for probably 2/3 of the new runway.
