WOW!! only 150 & 172's flying update!

WOW!!

Been flying my 150 /150 almost every day for the past week and the
ONLY planes flying seem to be this class of aircraft. ( 150', 172',s
ultra lites, small pipers, etc)

I LOVE my 150/150 !! sipps MOGAS & Get this!!! a 12 year old kid
and a screw driver can fix just about any problem on this airplane!

The guys with the 'big' 100LL gas guzzlers are taking it in the shorts
every time the cowl comes off! not to mention the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ of
100 LL!!

What happens when 100LL is no more! and it's going to happen!

By the way, the Cessna 150 with the 150 HP engine is AWSOME! kicks
ass !! and sips MOGAS! takeoff run is about 350 feet 120 Kts
cruise, and it's cheap to fly.

I am looking purchase 'off road' (Farm) Auto gas so no Road taxes
(sales tax only) that SAVES another .30 cents per gallon

It's a Joy to have the sky all to myself!

Yeah.
Farmers pay the tax up front and then apply for a refund of the tax prorated
between the on and off road use.
Good luck with that.

and just yesterday the out of town twins on our ramp out numbered all
singles 2 to one... 2 Aztecs, a twinco, a C414, a Bonanza and an Arrow....
and there were a total of.... zero trolls flying 150s.

Now, now, Jim, let's not curb his, er, "irrational exuberance"....

A 150 is a fine plane. A 150 with an O-320 is a great plane. Just so
long as you don't want to actually go anywhere with anyone.

So how do you go about getting a refund for gasoline not used on the
highway?

Actually, in Wisconsin you can present an "Aviation Use Declaration" to the
gal at your local convenience store and she's only supposed to charge you
the state aviation rate, which here, is less than the road use tax rate.
But can you imagine her actually doing it? or believing you?

At the end of each year we declare a certain percentage of our farm gasoline
used "on road for non farming purposes". The tax on that fuel they keep and
refund the balance in the form of a tax credit. We have to pay it first,
then request the off road tax credit.

This is a state by state issue. The Fuel tax on automobile gasoline
has both state and federal components. The Federal tax is not waivable
for aviation/off road use for people like you and I. There may be a
valid farm/ag use waive, but not for ordinary GA.

The state component may be waivable. In my state, it IS, and you get
a form (available online) and submit it to the Comptroller (taxing
authority for the state) and get a refund. Save your reciepts and keep
good records (that is for retail sales at someone elses pump).

If you have a tank, you may be able to purchase bulk without paying
the tax up front, but again, good recordkeeping applies. If you use it
in your car on the roads, that amount is legally taxable.
