Hi,
I will be flying out of JFK on 18 April at 400P and returning to JFK on 30 April at 725P. I'm thinking of flying my Archer from Cleveland to somewhere in the area (no, I don't want to go into JFK, ha ha) and leaving her there for the couple of weeks. Any suggestions will be appriciated. I will probably plan to spend the night of the 30th and fly back on 1 May. Hotel suggestion near where the Archer will be staying. Suggested transportation from Archer to JFK. Thanks to all. Chuck |

If you left your plane there for two weeks (as Chuck is planning to do), then you have way more money than sense. Or I guess that should be "had." That's why the "ha ha." I was flown in, and the pilot turned right around and flew back out again. rg |

Why "ha ha"? I flew (actually was flown) into JFK once in a Comanche to
catch a flight to Europe. What was the landing fee? I flew into Logan once; they had a sale going. For a month or so they reduced the landing fee (at least for us little guys) to five dollars. The controllers did a fine job and the approach was seamless. I had the same experience into National (DC) some years back. The fees later went right back to their usual level, and I bet they approach three figures now, though I wouldn't be surprised if the highest fees aren't at JFK but at smaller airports served by Signature. r.a.owning trimmed Jose -- Math is a game. The object of the game is to figure out the rules. for Email, make the obvious change in the address. |

I think it was supposed to be $100 (whoever said flying was a cheap hobby?) but no one ever bothered to collect it. (In the FBO we were told the pilot would get a bill in the mail, but he never did.) rg |

They have a courtesy van to take you to the terminal of your choice. However, the long term parking might be a problem. The Port Authority of NY and NJ has a website with a telephone number to get the information. |

You can download the entire schedule of fees at http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/jfkscheduleframe.htm The site is a heavy on frames and javascript so it's hard to bookmark, but I believe the above URL will get you right to the fee schedule document. |

Republic nearby, KFRG, has lots of options and not too far from Kennedy.

I have RON at Cleveland Hopkins, leaving the airplane at the Jet
Center... Landed at night as #2 with only a 757 in the pattern ahead of me... Left at 5:30 AM and had the taxiways and the runway to myself... It never hurts to make a few phone calls to the business jet FBO's at JFK and you may find it possible, or not... But if you don't check, you won't know... denny |
