Hello,
Has anyone looked at this engine for use on a plane? It looks to me like it might have possibilities. It's used in a bunch of different vehicles with different outputs from 240hp all the way up to 287hp due to different exhausts, intakes and computers (I think). Anyway the stats as are advertised for the '04 Maxima are 265 hp @ 5,800 rpm, 255 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpm. It's all aluminum, but I haven't been able to find an accurate weight yet. The best I've been able to find is this site: http://www.241computers.com/ford/Con...s20-30-38.html which lists the weight of the 3.0 liter at 264 lb. Supposedly the 3.5 is a bored and stroked out version of the 3.0 but I don't know that for sure. Colin Kenny |

Didn't Rutan run a pair of Nissan V-6's in the Pond Raycer a few years ago?

Some of the older 3.0's they put in trucks (80's-1998) made peak torque under
3,000rpm. |

I believe I have the 3.5 in my Maxima. It is a gutsy little cuss but it take
a second or two to load up for passing. A lot of RPMs but no go. FWIW, 35 mpg on the road. A lot of engine for my car.
