Starting next year, the standard class will no longer compete along
side of the 15m, 18m & open classes at the world chamionships. Is this simply a logistical solution to having too many gliders at one competition, or is this the beginning of the end of the standard class? Chris Fleming "F2" Ref: http://www.fai.org/gliding/championships/dates.pdf |

The decision is based on logistics at the airfield and safety in the
air by reducing the number of gliders. The standard class is still going strong. If you look at the number of participants, the FAI 15m class is more at risk, while 18m is becoming more popular.
