Due to a last-minute cancellation, SSA asked me to
speak at the convention. I'm speaking on "So you think you want a motor-glider". While I have a good supply of motor-glider stories and anecdotes (possibly too many, if you get my drift), I'm looking for more. E-mail me offline if they're too embarrassing (they WILL remain anonymous)... Thanks in advance, Best Regards, Dave "YO electric" |

Thanks in advance, Best Regards, Dave "YO electric" Not sure if this will suit your purpose, but in the long ago, when cleared to take off shortly after a sizeable passenger jet, I found that my motor-glider (a Fournier RF4) was executing a snappy roll to the right, and straight towards the tower. It was interesting because, with its high aspect ratio wings, this airplane was known for a rather pedestrian roll rate. What is a pedestrian roll rate through a stationary airmass, became an exciting roll rate in a rolling airmass however. [It was a year or two later, that increased clearance behind heavy jets was introduced, coincidentally.] It was the case that such aircraft would be hand-propped from behind the prop, on the left side, which often created moments of drang und sturm from onlookers.
