My DE said that the IFR checkride had to be performed in VFR conditions and led me to believe that it was mandated that way. I believed him as he pointed out trying to do unusal attitude recovery in IMC was not condusive to prolonged life. Not necessarily. Part of my test was done in VFR, above the clouds for the unusual attidudes etc. I had a couple of approaches in IMC (didn't see the airport on the VOR approach) so had to do a missed. This was in Northern California (SF Bay area). |
